ce complexe est à l'abandon et personnel est agressif A éviter absolument
The hotel is basic. The food DISGUSTING. What you get for breakfast you eat at lunch, dinner and breakfast again. I survived on croissants. I had items stolen, and you are in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of germans and dutch, the English come at the bottom of the list. DO NOT STAY HERE, it will be a holiday you wished you'd never book!!!!!
Some of our experiences at the Caibbean World were very good. The room was kept very clean and there was never a shortage of clean towels. The aircon was efficient and the room hade a safe which we found very useful. The shops and bank were very handy and reasonably priced. Food in the restaurant was varied and plentiful. The chefs worked hard to produce variety. Overall the food was a little bland but that is to be expected. they were catering for many different tastes. Where the hotel failed miserably was at the bars. The staff appear to have been hand picked for their inability to give full measures or smile. The beer was the worst! Afer queueing up at the bar for several minutes it is a disappointment to return to one's table with just half of one small plastic beaker of beer. Regularly my son returned from the bar with half a small glass of coke. It is a shame the hotel owners accepted this practise as it overshadowed so many good things. It was also impossible to get a sun lounger by the pool after about 6.30 am. Many beds were reserved with towels and went unused for hours at a time. We notice that in Greece and Turkey more and more hotels are outlawing ths practise with "naughty towel prisons" and I would heartily reommend this practise to the CW owners. Considering the price we paid, we feel we got reasonable value, we got what we paid for effectively.
Went May 2007. Overall it was a really good stay. For what we paid it was more than we expected. Accomodation is very good, clean, and recently refurbished. Food is good. Entertainment staff are fantastic... They are around from 9am and put on a performance every evening on the stage, dance, music, etc. Must only get midnight to 8am off. Hotel staff are very helpful. Have a lovely beach and water sports. Two big swimming pools, one with slides. Here's the buts... Limit English people there. Mainly German, French and Russian. Limited English with staff. Speak French, German more. Dinner finishes at 9pm. Bar closes at 11pm. There is a cheesy disco after. But nothing else to do after as there is no local town. You are just there, stuck. Local beers and spirits in the all inclusive take getting used to, but work! The relax centre was the only let down. A guy comes around the loungers and sells you an amazing sauna, mud and seaweed and massage session for about £37 each. When you go there, it is rubbish, dirty, smelly and you end up, more or less, taking turns to be treated by one girl. The guy is really persuasive and friendly, but when he takes your money, he is brash and then doesn't really want to know your experience. Be warned.
We have just returned from carribean world resort in tunis tunisia. The complex itself was very good with a lovely pool for the children, beach within walking distance with plenty of water sports on offer for a reasonable price as the british at the moment are having a good exchange rate. The animation team were fantastic with a different show every evening for the whole fortnight we were there, most spoke english quite well, which was a comfort as we were surrounded by french, germans, dutch and russian guests who were mostly extremely rude!!! A very long transfer by coach from monastair airport, much more practical to fly into tunis airport to stay at this resort. Food was disgusting. My children lived on pancakes, bread rolls and chips from snack bars which would only serve chips between 3-5pm, a minute late he would not make any. They would serve the same food repeatively. If they had fish for lunch they would then serve it in a diiferent sauce for evening meal. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tunisia. It is in the middle of nowhere, not a very good tourist location.
Me and my boyfriend visted the caribbean world resort in sept 2006. We flew to monastir and the the transfer took around 4 hours. Id advice anyone to fly to Tunis, and beware of the locals at the airports helpin you with your luggage as they demad a tip. When we arrived at the hotel we were extremely pleased with the resort. Its just what it looks like on the pictures. We booked a twin room online but were given a large family room with a huge double bed on the ground floor and a further two single rooms upstairs. The rooms were really clean and were cleaned on a daily basis with the towels and bed sheets changed everyday. The pool was huge and not very busy, that may be due to the time of year we went. We were all in clusive which was our only mistake. It states that all local alcohol is on offer, however the only drinks on offer in the a/i package was draught beer that was non alcoholic, a local spirit called Bouka which was vile, and cedratine which was even worse. WE found ourselves spendin our own money on bottled beers, vodka and normal drinks. Make sure you buy a bottle of spirit at the airport before u get to the hotel as there is no where near the hotel that sells it. the nearest place is hammemet where u have to get a train too. The food was also a let down. There was a lot on offer but it wasnt the nicest. We managed to eat it for a week but no way could we have stayed another week with eating the food. The animation team at the resort were the highlight of our holiday. They were really friendly and the majority of them spoke 6+ languages. They have a lot of activities to offer to adults and dont pester u too much to take part. The hotel staff however were rude and dont speak english. I wouldnt advice any english person to visit this resort as it is full of french, germans, dutch, russians... basically foreign people and it does make u feel a little isolated. My boyfriend and i didnt realise until 2 days before we went home that there is an onsite club on the beach that starts after the show has finished each night. We went here for the first time and it was amazin, playin really good music, everyone dances and they continue to sell alcohol, which u have to pay for. Make sure u go! Overall it was a really good holiday and we enjoyed ourselves. The only downfall was the food & alcohol and the fact it was full of foreigners.
My family and I arrived at the hotel midday, after a tiresome transfer from Monastir. We were greeted curteously and were provided with refreshment on arrival as our rooms were sorted out. Were were shown to our rooms initailly we felt like our room was in the middle of nowhere, however on exploration of this huge complex we found it to be fairly close to all the amenities, the beach, the main hotel and restaurants, the aqua park the shops. Outside the hotel looks like a shanti town but just a short taxi ride or 15 minute walk gives you access to Borj Cedria's fairly good local transport connections to Tunis, Nabeul, and Hammamet. Also Hammam Lif is just a short walk along the very pretty coast. Although a majority of the staff speak little English they are very helpful as if they do not understand they will try to find someone who speaks better English to aid your enquiry. I speak pigeon French so got by fairly well, I did however take some time to learn a few arabic phrases before going to the hotel often pronunciation was an issue, but I gained some respect by learning simple phrases like, hello , good morning, thank you. The animation team are full of life and are very enthusiastic, they take time to get to know you and encouraging people to join in on the very full entertainment program during the daytime. After working so hard all day they then go on to produce evening shows to further entertain their guests, with some members of the team then heading to the Disco on the beach until the early hours where they all still diligently mingle with guests. Having visited Tunisia before I found the level on entertainment in this hotel far outstripped previous hotels that I have stayed in, which did make up for the fact that the hotel is in a very secluded untouched part of Tunisia, which to my mind gives you more of a contrast to the country you came to visit. The majority of the guests that were in residence when we stayed were German and Dutch with a few French and Italian. It was a little overwhelming at first but in joining in on the activities encourage unlikely freindships and the majority of them used me as a subject on which to practice their English. All in all We really enjoyed our time in Caribbean World and we are already planning a return visit next year!!!
It's a bit of a mixed review of this hotel really. We booked last minute and had never been to Tunisia before. Got a bit of a shock as the bus started to slow as it looked like we were in war torn iraq. We were thrilled however when we got inside by the beautiful complex which was immaculate. Not being able to take any Tunisian currency into the country we only had sterling in £20's when we got there and the porter very 'kindly' said he would take 'quids' when i explained this to him, which took some time as his english was virtually non-existant. Not that I should really criticise that as I couldn't speak his language! Considering £20 too large a tip for carrying our bags about 100 yards I told him I would tip him later once I had dinar. He still did not want to leave and I virtually had to push him out of the door to get him to go. My friend in her room with her son did not fare as well and ended up giving him £10 to get him to leave. He approached me then about a further 3 or 4 times to remind me that he had carried my baggage until I tipped him. Bearing in mind the place is very remote and there is only the resorts bank, a few shops and a salon for miles around I hadn't changed any money for a couple of days. It did feel like every member of staff was lurking waiting for you to give them money. This was with the exception of the cleaners who were fabulous. On our second day I gave our cleaner about £2 which was all the change I had and every day she left flowers in our room and greeted me with the most enormous smile like I'd actually given her £2000!! The animation team were great, very enthusiastic but sometimes a bit too much so. They kept coming round and trying to make you join in with various activities such as aqua aerobics etc which being truly English I was not interested in, but 'no' didn't seem to cut the mustard. Our children one day had stones thrown at them by some German children whilst on one of the kids activities and rather than excluding the stone throwers our children were brought back to us. More than a little unfair I thought. They also have a man who we nicknamed Captain Lovely Jubbly because that, along with 'You will come on my boat today only 30 quids' was all of his english. Same with the camel man, who constantly hounded us to go for a ride on his camels. The food was ok as long as you like German sausage which bizarrely seemed to feature in every dish including the bowls of veg! Breakfast was good but my children lived on mashed potato and bread all week as most dishes were very spicy and often difficult to ascertain what they actually were. That being said the resort itself was beautiful and very very clean. The staff were helpful once you could actually get them to understand you save for one waiter who grabbed my 8 year old son as we were walking out of the restaurant one lunchtime, marched him back to the table away from me and berated him in foreign tongue for spilling salt on the table. How I didn't assault the man I don't know! And the reception staff were less than concerned when I told them. Don't think we'll be back. The place does not live up to its potential.
Please take my advise, if you dont speak French as a 2nd Language, please do not go to this hotel, it is aimed at the french and italian, everywere other then english really. I dont like going on holiday and being over run by english people, but this one take the mik!! This Hotel is huge, and when we stayed they 10th september, the hotel was full, and they was only 8 english people, we all had to stick togther as we never would have got a room, food or a drink. They refuse to speak english to you. we payed for a seaview room with a balcony, and we got a view of a bush with no balcony, after being show 6 different rooms, still not what we payed for we gave up!! When we got to the hotel (12 midnight) to be told the hotel was full, and we had to stay in the hotel over the road for the first night!! We was not impressed!! By the way the transfer from Monistir airport is 2 half hours, so book a transfer. This hotel is big and great for families (other then english) It is the middle of no were so there are no bars and restaurants, so i would usually advise all inclusive, but even that isnt good as we ate the same food every day for a week (lunch and dinner). Animation team are good, and friendly, still dont speak very good english, but they will try. I realy do urg you not to go here unless you speak another language fluently.
I went with my wife during the May half term holiday, and I have to say that after reading the reviews we were a little nervous! It turned out that the worrying was unneccessary! Here are our views of some of the comments posted here. 1. People complaining about the transfer time are coming from Monastir airport, as from Tunis Airport (where we got off) it takes about 45 mins. Check your arrival airport. 2. The hotel is not expensive, therefore do not expect a week in an all-inclusive Hilton. The free drinks include wine (the red is better than the white) Brauhaus german beer (tasted fine to me) and a selection of Tunisian spirits such as Muscat and Bourkha. Coke, Sprite and Fanta are there also, as well as fruit juices (made from concentrate and sweet as hell!) On the food front it did seem to be the same things most days and nights. However we never went hungry as there was always something to eat. Items included lots of salad ingredients, pasta and sauce(s), pizza (usually cold) and fries, there was a whole range of vegetables cooked and the chefs served up stir fired meat and veg, and lets not forget the Tunisian speciality in the corner. 3. The rooms are basic. We had a King size bed, vanity area, TV (didn't work but didn't go on holiday to watch TV), wardrobe and bathroom. They are huge rooms and they all have a veranda/ balcony with chairs and table. If you are on the ground floor around the pool, then there are 2 sun loungers outside on the grass as well! Cleaned and mopped everyday. Beware mosquitoes in the evening. 4. Tunisia speaks arabic and French. This hotel caters primarily for French, German and Russian guest (the latter were noisy) if you are unsure if your school French, German or Russian is enough, and you think you may do a lot of talking, then don't stay. Luckily for me my wife speaks excellent French, so we didn't have a problem. Even so most of the staff will try in English for you. Overall, for a little over 300GBP per person for the week, we enjoyed our stay. We were not there in peak season and it was nice having only 200-250 people in the resort. It can hold a lot more! If people are really unhappy then there are always tours to go on. For families, from where we were lying, it looked like the animation team were doing their utmost to entertain the childtren with lots of activities. Can't really fault the place this time.
I went with my partner and 13 year old daughter for two weeks and can honestly say we had a really good time and had a go at everything. The town is a short taxi ride away but please beware of anyone coming up to you, as you get out of your taxi, and saying they "work at your hotel" and "do you not remember them". This happened to us and we unwittingly went for an invited tour of the town with a man who said he was our waiter the previous night. After following him down back streets we eventually arrived at a carpet shop where we were press-ganged into buying a carpet we didnt even want. The Tunisians are quite bullish in their sales technique and we only went to the town on two other occasions. You have to be firm and just say no thankyou and walk away, which goes against the polite English way. The hotel had only been reopened a couple of weeks when we arrived and the Entertainment Team were all new but they were extremely good given the lack of costumes and props. The food was very good and varied and the pastries and cakes, a speciality of Tunisia, were out of this world! The room was very clean although the bath had been painted with gloss paint and should really have been replaced. On the beach there were activities for the children and there is a guard to stop the passing vendors forcing their goods onto the tourists. My only comment is they could do with a beach cleaning operation as there was quite abit of litter and I picked a broken bottle up from the sand and placed it on a wall because there were no bins. I certainly recommend the trip but I think two weeks was a little long, maybe 10 days would have been better.
My advice to all potential visitors: This is a very family-orientated hotel that caters more for Germans and French than English. The rooms are clean, but basic. Our TV did not work. The hotel is located very close to the beach, but nowhere near anything else e.g. no shops or bars. The wine is like vinegar and the other drinks included in the all inclusive package are limited (no vodka, gin or cocktails unless it's happy hour - we didn't stay that long!) The staff, on the whole, were very pleasant but if you are female and not travelling with men the younger guys will hit on you at every opportunity. And I mean ALL the time. We asked to change to their sister hotel in Hammamet and would definitely NOT go back!
We stayed at the hotel from 5th-10th April having moved from the Miramar Carthage Palace due to this hotel being unsatisfactory. When we arrived there were around 15-20 people, of these the majority were french and german, this did not pose a problem as it ensured that my school french was put to use. However, you should ensure that if you go to any hotel or travel in tunisia, go with a little french as this will go a long way to ensure that you can barter and not get ripped off. By the 2nd day of our stay at Caribbean world more kids arrived for my 15 year old son and things really hotted up!!, kids and adult entertainment staff are attentive, friendly, and engage you in all activities even if you just want to sit and chill by the pool with your book, they are not overbearing so respect you doing this also. I went to the Hamman and had a fantastic massage followed by a manicure and pedicure which was fantastic, I felt my son was safe at all times. The food is fairly good and a stay of longer than a week would have meant a touch of boredom would have set in. Taxi's are prohibitive in cost compared to the local train. If you want to travel to Tunis, take a cab from outside this hotel for a pound and jump of the old train at Borj Cedria which cost £1.75, takes 45 mins and you get to see the urban spread of modern tunis and its surrounding towns. The nearest airport is tunis airport and journey takes around 45 minutes, we had a really friendly driver who was alittle crazy but hey that is part of our experience!!!. All in all I would return to this hotel as it is cheap and cheerful and my son wants to come back and he is a really good barometre of hotel quality. The beach is ok, dont expect clear still waters, this is still the med and is cold.
Fristly, be warned about the time it takes to get from the airport to the hotel. I went with my boyfriend and after an hour long journey on the first coach we were transfered to a mini van with just us in. This took us an extra couple of hours as we flew to monastir airport instead of the nearer tunis airport. When we arrived there was little staff and none that spoke particularly well english, however they were really helpful and happy to help. The weather was generally really good, very sunny and warm. Although at nights it did get a bit chilly with a light wind. The staff were all really helpful, very polite and cheerful! The maids were also great and kept our room spotless. Even though we were both ill for quite a while the food was generally good. The breakfast was by far the best - pancakes, bread, eggs etc. But stay away from the weird looking chicken as it has loads of tiny bones. Plus the hotel does seem to be generally based around the germans, as some of the food was a bit odd. We stayed here for two weeks an only met around 8 other english people so maybe not the best holiday if you want to socialise and meet people. The beach was amazing! Lovely blue sea and golden sand. We loved the holiday! Oh and we had a TV in our room but read somewhere that if you wanted to watch it you have to pay at the reception for an ariel. Although we asked and they gave us one straight away and didnt have to pay a thing.
we had read some terrible rewiews about caribbean world before we left for our holiday and were very worried . we have just returned on the 29th oct 2005. we had nothing to worry about, the staff were very freindly, the food was very varied and very much edible with plenty of choice even for our 2 small boys. the hotel was kept extremely clean, our room was large and very clean. the beach was beautiful, plentyof sunbeds. the pools area was spotlessly clean. i would advice anybody to ignore all the poor reports they dont know what they are talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!! go there and enjoy.
Well, the title says it all. First of all we couldn't beleive how long it took us to get there, something like 3 hours with no warning or stop en route!! The complex itself is okay, our room was good and kept to a hig standard, the flies were a pain but you can hardly blame that on the hotel, although they could maybe do a bit more to prevent them in the dining room. The Animation team were great, good laugh and full of energy. Food was hit and miss, one day it'd be great but the next pretty average and bland. All in all though a holiday is what you make of it and we had a great time, there were some language barriers because the resort seems to cater for mainly German, Polish, French and Russian guests but they can soon be overcome. In all honesty, in the first week all we heard from a bunch of Brits was how they wanted to escape because it was full of Germans and there was no chips, thankfully, they only stayed a week and then went home, leaving us to enjoy our holiday without their continued bleating on how fed up they were...........maybe Blackpool should becon for them next year!!
My family and I stayed at this hotel at the end of August 2005. The hotel had many things too offer, and the swimming pool was very nice, however it was very cold. The food on offer was quite horrible and many flies would surround the food. Most days what you had for dinner would be what you would be on offer for lunch the next day. There are a few other restaurants which you could book and go too, however the booking system for these restaurants was terrible. The beach was of a hoorible standard and was very busy and had a lot of rubbish on it.The animation team do a wonderful job, and this helped to make up for the hotel. In the evenings they put on ok shows, and as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you have to stay there and watch them. The rooms were quite large for a family of four, especially because of the upstairs and downstairs. However, we stayed there 7 days and in those 7 days our beds were never made and to get any towels we had to make a fuss, and some days they would say the maids wil brign them shortly and they never arrived. The drinks that are on offer are very limited and only avaliable till 11pm. Overall this is not a hotel i will returning to in the future.
Me, my wife and twin 6 year old kids spent 8 days at this resort at end of July. The resort itself is vast and great - the staff are extremely friendly and the 3 swimming pools are superb. The beach was not overcrowded and offered a variety of watersports. The beach, hotel complex and the guest rooms are kept extremely clean. Considering the variety of guests, the staff did a good job in keeping everyone entertained. The food was a big let down for us - not really suitable for kids, not much variation on the menu plus we all had belly troubles during our stay. I soon stopped eating the rice, cous cous and cooked meat and I was ok but my kids had problems throughout. I'm not 100% sure whether the kids got sick purely down to the food - perhaps the intense heat, the different cooking ingredients and long days of getting up early, splashing around in the pool and then going bed late also contributed. It would have been nice to have nearby restaurants to add some variety, but there isn't so we we're stuck with what they had to offer (or starve). In the evenings the Animation staff put on a kids disco (which my kids loved), then a spot of Bingo and then a show for the adults. The shows we're fun - some of the dancing was brilliant. My only other gripe was that most of the staff and guests only spoke French or German - so it was hard to get involved in the shows or make friends with the other guests. Still, it worked as a bonus because I used this excuse of not understanding the language when asked why I wasn't dancing to the "Birdie Song". Would I go again? Probably not in the immediate future - just because of the food factor. But if it was a break for just me and my wife or perhaps when the kids are older - then definately Yes.
I went to this hotel for 14 days. it's a simple hotel, but not too simple. We had great fun there, the swimmingpool is amazing, the animation team knows their job, the food was good, the room was nice and the staff was friendly. Every evening there was an interactive show for the smaller children and aftre that there was a show for the others ( cabaret, dancing, ...). We saw the lion king, aladdin, grease and many more... all performed by the animation team. In the day there where games, arobics, dancing lessons,... and once a week there's a mini souk (market) where you can buy souvenirs. The animators can speak several languages like english, french, german, italian. I've had a great two weeks and I would go back any time!
I thought the holiday was one of the best i've ever had. The Staff were really friendly. The food was good. It had a range of different dishes! In the evenings the Animators perfomed a brilliant show! There was always a range of activities to do throughout the day and the beach was very close. I enjoyed a lot and would recommend it to anyone!
On our arrival at Caribbean World we were welcomed by the Animators with a welcome dance. This made us feel welcome straight away. At the bar later that evening, the staff came over and introduced themselves and soon we were all laughing and joking together. Our rooms were extremely spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. The room was cleaned daily and the maids did a great job with them. Everyday the Animators made a list of activitys that we could do. There was quad biking, tennis, areobbics, volleyball, bodywork, boules, salsa, darts and more. And that was all on site. Off site there was horse riding and camel riding and more. Also all the water sports including jet skiing, water skiing and swimming were also on site. In the evenings, the Animators put on shows. Dance ones and sketch ones. They were amazing. One evening we were there, it was a global dance show, and dances from Spain, Russia and Britain included. The River Dance was amazing. The food was good and a lot of it was cooked in front of you. The beach was clean and tidy, and so was the campus. All in all, my fellow travellers and I would give this holiday and hotel 100 out of 100. Definatly worth a vist!
My daughter an I got a spaceous familiy-room on two floors. clean, nice wallpaint, seasight from the balcony, calm. The hotel is kept in caribbean colors, well looked after, with lots of palmtrees, Yasmin, Bananatrees and other flower-plants. The animation-team is very funny, the children love their animateur, the children are on stage every evening and they love it. The beach is tidy every morning. But still there is a lot to do for the management to make the guests happy: the public toilets should get cleand more often. The guests dont want to wait 1 minute for cups at breakfast. There are only 2 different jams, no honey. They should offer more continental dishes, for example spaghetti bolognaise. You can take surfing lessons, trapez-lessons, play tennis, table-tennis, shoot like Winnetou, Billard, Boccia, Latin-dance-lessons, Aerobic, Arabic-lessons, canoe,go for a long walk on the beach, collect shells, camel or horse riding. Unfortunately there are no shops or restaurants outside the hotel, souveniershops within. You can take a taxi to the train station Borj Cedria ,about 1,5 km/2 Dinar, and go to Tunis, Sidi bou said, Hammamet by train. There are regular busses as well .We enjoyed our stay at this hotel even though I got belly-troubles the second week. Take a mosquito spray with you for the evening outside, just in case. You pay about 15 Dinar /3 days for TV. I booked Last minute with Nazar Holiday Düsseldorf, Germany, 1290 Euro, 2 persons/2 weeks/all incl/incl. taxes and securitiy. I would go there again if it cost the same. The critics in the internet are outdated and give no real information. You can have a good time there, but don be too fussy, be friendly to the staff. I wouldnt go there in July and August, it could be crowded and too hot. Go to Switzerland or Austria in summer.
This is the worst place I have ever been to. Had a terrible experience there all at the hotels fault. The place is dirty, the food is uneatible, the staff are extremely rude, the rooms are BAD, and the location is undesirable. I would not advise anyone to go there, I went for a week and hated everyday of it and was then sick for about two weeks after.
Stayed at Caribbean World Sept 2003 after booking it off teletext. We were impressed by all inclusive price and overall description of place. How wrong was it. Food was awful and you had to get to it before the flies, the beach was disgraceful with allsorts of rubbish washed up on it, the drinks were extremely limited to beer, wine and odd local concoction. We had torential rain for five days and hotel flooded with no electricity for hours at a time and people roomless. It was miles from anywhere else so you were stuck on the complex. Would not go again if it was free. The only plus side were the rooms were kept clean and the entertainers really worked to try and keep everyone amused.
