perfect location.

We stayed at the Islane during August 07 with our two teenage sons. The hotel is basic but clean. Best of all is the fantastic location; it is in walking distance of all the sight, jama el Fna is round the corner. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the view from the rooftop terrace of the main mosque was even better. Considering what we paid it was great value for money. We have recommended it to friends and family, who have also had an enjoyable stay at the hotel in December 07. I would recommend this hotel if want a cheap clean room with breakfast in the perfect location for seeing the sights.

The hotel is good, we got a room facing the mosque and the view was magnificent. What we liked best was that is is very central, 2 minute walk from the Square and ever monument. And what's best it is in a big avenue which means you cannot get lost getting there, the taxi can drop you off outside the hotel and it feels safe going back there. The room was spacious enough and it was clean. Breakfast is served on the top floor with amazing views and it is not particularly great, except for the orange juice. Staff were friendly and it was overall a very nice experience. Ask for a room facing the mosque, they are the best and in our opinion hearing the call to prayer makes the whole thing quite magical.

As everyone says ...great location. Unfortunately after a long hot journey to the hotel me and my girlfriend were undressing to freshen up. As soon as we were both totally naked-after 5 mins in the gloomy building we were startled by the sound of keys in the door. As I looked up no fewer that 4 staff members walked straight in without knocking or any warning. Two appeared to be chambermaids and two appeared to be wearing pest extermination gear. The staff were equally startled and left as quickly as they had entered this gave me the impression that there had been no communication from management. We were so shocked that we decided to leave. The mangement accepted no responsibility and refused to refund. So we left 40 quid down the drain after 10 mins in the capital, feeling very compromised and vulnerable.....my advice stay well away!

As 6 mature ladies we were apprehensive to book this hotel but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the rooms are dimly lit (so I took the heavy brass shades off the walls lights haha), no frills or new furnishings although new laminated floor throughout all bedrooms which keeps your feet warm. Beds very clean and very comfortable with fresh linen/towels supplied everyday. The hotel is in a excellent location you can walk anywhere an assett as I was disabled, no lift but only on 2 floors anyway. Staff thorough cleaning all the time throughout the hotel and very friendly, every request was instantly sorted out in minutes with a friendly smile and no begging for tips. Heating/air con working and virtual silent. Bathrooms simple but small plus hot water and you dont live in the bathroom! Only 2 english speaking TV news programs showing but you dont go to Marrakech to watch TV. The hotel is on a busy main road but we asked for back rooms so had no view but very were quiet and that is what we wanted, so you choose between a room on the front with the sun/mosque view but on main road or a quieter room on back of hotel without a view. The hotel restaurant on the roof offers good fresh food with a reasonable choice at breakfast (sadly no cereal so take your own and an egg/omelette would have been most welcome) but an excellent cup of fresh non-stewed tea bread, various pastries, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice and natural yogurt plus a excellent view over the famous mosque which gives you a wake up call but all adds to the morrocoan experience - but not too bad and got back to sleep fairly quick. There has been a bad write up about pushy Manager but we found him no problem and he was helpful and professional, I would would certainly recomend this budget hotel if all you want is a no frills, cheap B&B....... it cannot be beaten on its location and what does one expect for £10-£15 a night.
