My friend and I stayed at the Mirage just after Christmas having booked it through lastminute.com where it was described as a 5 star. Accordingly, we took clothes suitable for a 5 star establishment - oops! We were rather overdressed!!! There was certainly no dressing for dinner. The hotel was a good 3 star by European standards (4 star by N. African standards). Very few English people there as its mainly a French all inclusive clubhotel. Being French speakers ourselves, this wasn't a problem but if you don't speak French you'll feel a bit 'alien'. We enjoyed the food - very morrocan, good variety and the restaurant had long opening hours. Nice clean pool area and very well located for the sea front. Rooms were fairly spacious and there was always hot water. Bathroom needed a bit of refurbishment but was spacious & more than adequate. Restaurant staff were friendly & helpful, reception staff distant. Animation staff very friendly even though were weren't on the French 'package'. I think next time we'd go self catering as there are lots of lovely local restaurants along the sea front and eating out is cheap. It was lovely to find a resort, not too far from the UK, that isn't overrun by english breakfasts/ bars/fish&chips/football shirts. Lots of great local atmosphere and friendly people. Even as women (middle aged however!) we didn't have any bother with unwanted attention from local men.

The hotel is predominantly for the French, which has it's advantages, being an all inclusive resort hotel. The primary advantage is that it isn't full of drunken Brits staggering about making a nuisance of themselves (oh, and I'm a Brit). It's quite civilised. The second advantage is that the food (though limited in variety) was consistently good. Service was good and the staff very friendly (both hotel and Marmara staff). The Hamam (I had sauna, hamam and massage) was very good. On the down side, there were peculiar rules for an 'all inclusive'. For example, orange juice at breakfast was an 'extra' which had to be paid for, as were omlettes and pancakes?! Quite odd given the comprehensive breakfast spread The only bar included in the deal was the 'poolside' open bar (which was rather tatty). The inside 'piano' bar was extra, as were drinks in the small nightclub. The 'Gym' was a complete waste of time - don't take it into consideration when booking! The entertainments staff could be a bit loud by the pool... However, the location of the hotel is great. Good beaches, many nice (and cheap) restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Laid back, cosmopolitan and a safe feeling about it. We would definitely go back to Agadir, and to the same hotel. The Royal Mirage isn't a 4* by international standards, but the rooms are OK, with aircon, beds are comfortable and the food is pretty good. The lifts are definitely 4*! Forget the telly and minibar..Good for families. Not for honeymooners.

Lovely facilities. Room is very cute, the material for the curtains & the bed cover is samey (could be cute or could look cheap depending on who's looking at it) -- Bathroom is very fancy. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool area & the beach of Agadir. Fab view. It used to be the Sheraton. Used the pool. It was gorgeous, altho the water was very cold even if the weather was very hot. Restaurant is alright. Breakfast was international and was a massive buffet. Loved it, will come back again if ever we're on that side again!:)

We stayed at the Royal Mirage in for a week in April. The hotel is no where near a 5* by English standards. 3* at the most. We were the only English couple staying at the hotel too, and the hotel staff struggle to speak alot of English. A majority of the people staying were French and all entertainment/communication was written in French. The hotel rooms do no not have double beds but the cleaners will push the single beds together on request and make the beds with bigger sheets. The cleaners do have a tendancy to just walk into your room in the mornings, even if you put the latch across they would still try to open it! The room was OK, we had a TV with a couple of English channels, table and chairs, mini bar, balcony and a safe that did not work! The bathroom was horrible, not overly clean and very dated. the shower curtain was a plastic one that you had to put on the inside of the bath to stop the water going everywhere. The breakfast was a buffet, it was the same every day which got really boring - Toast, eggs, pancakes, pastries, cereals. Beware if you are going as a couple and want to sunbathe around the pool as they have one of those entertainment companies within the hotel. People would pester you when sunbathing to get up and do exercises, dancing, yoga, games etc, the music was terrible to top it off that they played all the time! Children running around and screaming as well. We gave up by the pool and went to one of the grassed areas or the beach so not to be constantly asked to join in. The weather was hot but windy and it was the same at night, so make sure to take a jacket. Some of the restaurants along the beach front are lovely but they do try and drag you into every restaurant that you pass. Agadir was not what I was expecting of Morocco, and we would personally not go there again. The photos on the Royal Mirage website are highly deceiving. You have been warned!!

I stayed in this hotel during a business trip to Agadir and I can say that it's not even worth a 3 stars hotel. The hotel needs big renovation. the room furnitures are quiet old and not working properly...everytime i had to call someone to fix something in the room. The food was not good. The location is quiet far from the beach and certainly not in the nicest agadir tourist areas. I would certainly not come back.
