My friend and I went last year. The hotel seemed nice with clean reception and beautiful reception/lounge area. We were both very tired and just wanted to get to our room. After we had unpacked we thought a large glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the gardens would be nice. As we stepped out we were greeted by a huge palm tree right in front of our balcony which blocked out the view, the sun in fact everything and if we craned our necks we could just see the sea - not a good start. The food was OK providing you liked cous cous but was quite repetitive, although the puddings were better and so was the breakfast. We did manage to smuggle food out for the numerous cats that were on site. The hotel manager was a dragon but the other restaurant staff were nice and we always kept to the non smoking side of the room. When visiting the bar we asked for drinks without ice but they could not understand and kept bringing it back, so we ended up taking it out ourselves. Our rep even told us that all ice was imported from France, which obviously it was not because we were both ill with upset stomachs and even after leaving the hotel it took several months to get over. There were other English guests that were very ill one guy even had to have a doctor out and spent most of his holiday in his room which wasn't much fun for his wife and little boy. The hotel said entertainment was laid on - it was an old bloke playing an electric piano. We were there 11 days and only saw 1 night of proper entertainment. The gym eqpt was non existent - one bike and the rest was in a broken heap. The tennis courts were overgrown with weeds. The outside entertainment guys were a good bunch and were always trying to rally people round for various water sports and kept the poolside area very clean. Half way through the holiday the water pump system broke down and neat chlorine was being poured into the pool when people were swimming around. After a couple of days and even with the chlorine the pool became very cloudy at which time other guests were going down with stomach bugs. Our drainage in our room broke down so we had raw sewage floating around the sink and bath. Our room was kept spotless by our maid with the small resources she had - the sheets were threadbare and the blankets old and a bit smelly plus the towels were like drying yourself with sandpaper, but this was not her fault and she was lovely and even bought us presents when we left so we left her a good tip. The TV had no english channels mainly just weather and french news channels. We found the Moroccan men to be very touchy even some working in the hotel, in fact one of the security guys tried to get into one of the english girls room one night . We found whenever we left the hotel (respectively dressed i.e. covering our legs and arms) the men would come up and make suggestive remarks and often tried to touch us in some way. If you still want to go here make sure you go with a boyfriend they tend to leave you alone if you are with an guy. This hotel is not ideal for wheel chair users or people who cannot walk very well as there are loads of steps, especially steep ones to the restaurant, so it could be a very hungry holiday for you!! Its a shame this hotel could be great if only the owners spent a bit of money on it and listened to their guests. The staff are mainly friendly apart from the reception staff. We will never step foot in this hotel again. We did try to complain to the holiday company but they weren't interested probably because there were only a token few other English guests. The other guests were mainly German, French and Russians. The beach is a lovely but you will have loads of people trying to sell you things which gets annoying after a while - the best time to go is when they are having their siesta! Yes this is a moan moan moan review but you have to see it to believe!! (but hey don't waste your money unless you have money to burn) We made the best of it as the other guests were great and we had a good laugh with them.h

The hotel had a really good spa offering excellent treatments at a fantastic price. The food at the hotel was average but had a good choice to choose from for everyone. It also has a morrocan restaurant, the food was really nice, well worth a try! There wasn't a lot of entertainment of night, but it was safe to venture out at night so this didn't bother me. The staff around the pool were very friendly and tryed to keep children that were staying at the hotel entertained all day. The rooms at the hotel are suprisingly really big. if you are a family, the family rooms are huge and comfortably fit four. Overall this hotel was really good and you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Agadir itself is a really nice place and the people are so friendly. If you are thinking of doing an excursion give the "Ber Ber Evening" a go. I would definately return to this hotel.

The toilet roll holder had a drink straw supporting one side ? room was cleaned every day even when we requested not to !, clean sheets. Stayed in Rm 4311 Block 4 had a great view overlooking the Atlantic. The water in the shower was warm at best, after 6 forget it though. An the shower head never had a proper cover so the water spurted out in different directions an drenched the floor ! The food was different every day but still got boring ate out at Le Maxwell nice restaurant across the road, the hotel entertainment consisted of a chap god bless him playing on his Roland 800 keyboard singing in french. I understand that it was ramadam so thats why it might of been quiet, and the staff were working at a leisurely pace. The hotel has a sign at the entrance stating that you can't bring stuff into the hotel from shops (i.e.drinks, food from the supermarket) probably cause the shop in the hotel is crap and doesn't sell soft drinks ! There are cats every where but no harm, especially at the entrance of the restaurant it will feel like Hitchcocks Birds ! but are ok, girlfriend fed them regularly. Pool is massive an childs pool decent but when we were sunbathing one day a 4 year old boy got out of the pool and is foot went down the plastic filtering on the outside of the pool which wasn't nice to see so please be careful !!!! WARNING ! Marocco for the french is what tenerife is for the english ! so be warned because the hotel was packed with them and they ARE ALL RUDE pushing in front of the buffet queue an putting sun loungers in on top of yours with now where to walk ! Had to restrain girlfriend few times from clipping them ! Agadir is quiet only 2 pubs promenande consists mainly of restaurants and gold an leather shops, the Souk is worth a trip haggled for gold there, although a man did attach himself to us when we entered and informed us that he worked for government and would ensure we would be ok going around, he didn't of course ! his name was Hassan he took us where we wanted in the Souk an spoke great english, just gave him a feew dinarhams on the way out. 2 weeks was too long here as there wasn't enough to do excursions not that good either apart from Marrakesh which was an experience !!!! Before booking this holiday i had read some reviews -some good some not so good- and decided to go with an open mind. I desperately needed a break so as long as i got sunshine and a good beach i had made up my mind to be happy and satisfied. That i was to experience.! we arrived at the airport, the transfer was brilliant and on time-very friendly Ibrahim greeted us. Arriving at the front of the hotel i couldn't help but be amazed at the design of the hotel and instantly i knew i was going to enjoy it. Security guards outside and very safe and secure. Warmly greeted on arrival and we were shown to our room well not a room but a suite! there was one available and we were offered it at no charge. It was huge with enough room to sleep 4 and we were just 2. I cannot comment on the other rooms as i didn't see it but here we were living in style. balcony views of the swimming pool and the blue waters in the distance. The montain that light sup at night and which reads in Arabic "First Allah, then the people then the king." We were greeted warmly with fruit baskets and cold water arriving in the room compliments of the management. The room was huge very clean a lounge area and a seperate bedroom area with fridge. spacious abthroom shower and toilet facilities. The whole experience was wonderful. the buffet meals (we went half board) were very varied, and very attractively arranged. if they dont have anything you fancy they even made it for you. Staff well trained. half board means you pay for the drinks-soft drinks £1.00 a small bottle. Pelican restaurant by the pool had some good menu items and a great choice. we took advantage of the hairdressers, sauna, body scrubs and other beauty treatments. excellent staff and a fraction of the prices in UK. we were being really spoilt. There were a few cats around which didn't bother us too much. Each evening there was some entertainment by the poolside and it was fun to meet with the other guests too. everyone seemed to be enjoying a great time. The pool was clean and not crowded at all and there were plenty of deckchairs. what i really liked about the hotel was the beautiful gardens you could take walks in the evening or early morning, flowers of every kind and colour and some fruit trees too. the garden was well maintained and the hotel very clean. some 200 staff always on the go.it was interesting just to walk around and see the authentic handwork of the hotel, the ornate ceilings, the art work it was truly Moroccan and gave a very romantic feel about it. there were other restaurants there too and we enjoyed the Moroccan evening. we were based like 10 minute short walk to the beach and en route there are some really interesting shops to browse through. beaches are clean and not too overcrowded and you can buy some good bargains on the beach too. at night there is a square where there's lots going on and entertainment and music etc. just on the right of the hotel are small shops where you can arrange trips- we actually got a bit ripped of by one that took us 4.5 hours journey to Marrakech and 2 hours walking up and down the market souk and then returning again we spent more time in the minibus then the city and the driver Lars was very temperamental and unfriendly. book with a reputable excursion i can recommend other trips we did with Sahara Tours and we really enjoyed especially as there was an English speaking tour guide. Especially enjoyed the camel ride in the desert- our guide has an was really entertaining and told us a lot of the history of that area as well as the Berber tribe. If you speak french or Arabic its a bonus otherwise you might struggle a little bit i did find some people really poor and we often used to give money or even food to the small children. pizza hut and mcdonalds on the beach too if you long for that food and several indian restaurants. You must visit the souk. and if you go near gate No. 3 almost opposite a little to the right -facing you as you enter a corner stalls selling creams to incense to everything you will see Hasan. tall, slim and with glasses-he is the most friendly person we met on the trip. unfortunately we lost his phone number so cannot call him-if you go pls find him and give it to me! He insisted we visit him after finishing the shopping and on return he treated us to tajine and harissa lunch by his stall which was so delicious. so the week finished and we had a great time and cannot wait to return. about the hotel we enjoyed the experience and i would suggest if you don't get a suite then perhaps negotiate a price to be upgraded. you will love the experience! Me i would definitely return again to the same hotel and the same area as there is so much more to discover. if there was improvements would be that on arrival guests should be told where to eat breakfast and dinner as we were confused but its in the international hall. and also a sign should be placed in rooms towards which direction to say prayers. We have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Agadir staying at The Tivoli Hotel.(August 2007). This hotel is rated as a 4 star on some internet sites and rated as a 3 star plus by other well known travel agents, yes you did read that right 4 star or 3+, unbelievable..who rates these hotels, they should employ me for an honest opinion and star rating as The Le Tivoli is a 2+ star hotel and no where even remotely near a 4 star, and before anyone says " its a moroccan rating not a European rating" well whats the use in that, we want honest ratings, these companies dont charge moroccan prices do they? On arrival to be honest the hotel was as i had expected, as i had expected the worst due to reading other reviews and didnt want to dissapoint myself by expecting a 4 star palace. Our first room was changed after one night due to the toilet leaking water all over the bathroom floor. I had to complain on checking into the room as the bedding was dirty, the pillows even had the last tenants hair on it..yuk..The shower curtain was mouldy and the toilet seat cracked. I then viewed a further two rooms before eventually giving up and settled for one on the third floor with a sea view ..if you had binoculars. All the rooms were the same, tired and dated and thats the best description for the hotel...tired and dated. You can imagine that many moons ago The Le Tivoli was once a 4 star hotel when all the fixtures and fittings were new, many years on it has not been updated but somehow still retains its 4 star status. The rooms have been recently painted but the furniture shows its age. The bathrooms have seen better days, the water often came out brown, it ruined white clothes that were hand washed and if you showered late afternoon the water was cold with no power and just trickled out. The towels were awful, they were once white but alas time has turned them old, rough and grey, occasionally we had a newish one that stood out like a beacon of light next to the others. Its not all bad though, the hotel pool area was nice and clean, and the grounds are kept clean and tidy. Plenty of sunbeds for those wanting a holiday tan. As for evening entertainment, it was usually in French, one night they put up a large screen by the pool and showed Shrek 3 dubbed in French.....great...I dont speak French. A couple of nights the entertainment was ok, with a snake charmer on one occasion and african dancers on another, although they were not on for long and then the kiddies disco began and thats it for kids...no games room, no internet area, just the pool and a disco at night if you are under 12 years of age, nothing for teenagers. The hotel food in my opinion was pretty good, breakfast choice was poor but evening meals were reasonable, others in the family and at the hotel said the food made them ill but i was ok, well infact I was the only one ok in the family. The hotel is situated in a great spot, close to shops and just a short taxi ride to the beach, where you can dine on Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, Indian cuisine as well as Moroccan, lots of choice. We had a great holiday in Agadir, we did it all from camal rides, horse riding to quad biking, went on trips, shopped at every souk in and out of Agadir, the souks are safe, just watch for pick pockets. All in all we had a fantastic time, we just feel we didnt have value for money, staying at the height of the season, the hotel was not cheap as it is priced on its star rating, if you go out of season when its cheap you can not really complain. Just remember, as they say when visiting the souks, halve the price given to get a realistic value, the same goes in hotel star ratings.

The food was awful ate two dinners in. The pool area finally got cleaned once in the week we were there and that after we complained. Booked one tour which did a detour that was not on the schedule which meant they were operating illegally. Complained on the form at the hotel and wrote to Airtours who said they wanted a copy of the form - do you do photocopyng on holiday? Enough said buyer beware.

We have just come back from 2 weeks at Le Tivoli and we are very pleased with our stay. I would say it's a "solid" 3-star hotel. We had a very large room for four .It was perfectly clean, modern with a tv, safe and fridge. We had a shower cubicle ( slight tendency to flood the bathroom!) AND a bath.We also had a balcony overlooking the pool and nice gardens. Having read various reviews we were pleasantly surprised with the food. We have experienced pretty impressive buffets in the past and this was perfectly nice, plentiful, varied and tasty.The restaurant can be a little busy at peak time but they often open up the top floor and that's quiet and nice. There is a different theme everynight and we loved monday night which was Moroccan night. Everynight there were lots of lovely salads, a range of hot dishes, fish and meat, lovely vegetables ( definitely not chips every night). Having planned to go out for meals we did not even feel the need to! The pool was pleasant, obviously busy in the middle of August but we always found a space even in the middle of the day. Both children and adults enjoyed the daily waterpolo and pingpong games! Most evenings there is a disco or a film for children by the pool as well as a short entertainment slot ( snake charmer/ dancer). Our daughter came 4th in the "Miss Tivoli " pageant and the locals were impressed with her belly-dancing skills!! A lot of guests were Moroccans from other areas, very friendly and very keen for tourists to have a pleasant experience of Morocco, which we did! The beach is 10 min away max and pleasant. Anything goes on the beach, from fully clothed muslim women to westerners in bikinis. A very good example of tolerance and open-mindedness. Also loved the souk, Marrakesh and Essaouira not to be missed. A very good holiday, excellent value for money and everything is SO cheap over there.

They serve other food in their as well, pizza,omlettes, sanwiches etc. The pool, very clean & plenty of sunbeds. The resort had started to get very busy due to school hols, you needed to get down a bit early to reserve your sunbed. The room was very spacious, but bathroom a bit tired, but if you get a cheapy holiday, you cant complain! Dont expect much in the way of toiletries, you get a bit of soap. The water was sometimes cold too. The room we had was sea facing...err no sea for about 4 miles out! Women out there, if you love pampering, locate the Argan Massage place, out of the hotel, turn right, then junction turn left, walk about 7 mins it's on the right hand side. You need to pre-book, but you get collected from your hotel & they take you to the massage rooms - all reliable - then indulge in a 2 hour massage for about 20 pound....out of this world! All in all good for a cheap week in the sun.

NOT A CHANCE!!! OUR ROOM WAS AWFUL !! The bathroom was disgraceful - it was filthy, the shower was rubbish, some of the tiles cracked and the tap was broken. I got out of the shower (my quickest ever) and still felt dirty. The bedding was totally disgusting!!! The pillow case was stained, smelt dirty and had hairs on it. When I looked inside the case I was horrified, it had years of sweat and dirt on it that don't even bear thinking about. The so called air con didn't work and the room was hot and stuffy. Aftter the first night of hardly any sleep due to worrying about what I might catch, feeling too hot and listening to a noisy boiler (I think) my partner and I checked out. The hotel is generally tired and dated. The "sea view" is a bit of a joke, but yes you can see it in the distance over the dirty rooftops. The food (just for the record) was bland, unappetising and not much of a choice. We passed on dinner the night we arrived and had a very below average breakfast before we checked out. The reception staff were unhelpful and couldn't care less, as a last ditch attempt they offered us a "nice room" but it was too little too late. The bedding and staff would still be the same anyway.... NO WAY IS THIS HOTEL MORE THAN A 2 STAR...... We went to the resort office of our holiday company and they transferred us to the Odyssee Park Hotel. What an improvement! This was a 3/4 star hotel. It was beautifully decorated, very clean and the pool view was much nicer. The food was also very nice with a good choice and the location was better as it was closer to everything. We just wished we had booked this hotel instead....

La Scalla is a great restaurant just around the corner from the hotel, more expensive than others, but definitley worth trying. Agadir was fine, beach very nice, but none of the private beaches are open at the moment as they're extending the promenade, so you get hassled a bit on the beach. The resort has no bars that you can have a drink at really only restaurants and very few with good views. The resort layout is a bit strange too. I wouldn't go back, but its worth going if you get it cheap. Try one of the more expensive hotels if you can afford it, if not go here, but don't expect too much.

Apart from the room not being ready when we arrived and paying £40 for a room with a sea view which was about five miles in the distance the hotel could not be faulted. The pool was nice and quiet and there were plenty of beds. They did not seem all that bothered about bringing in food and drink from the supermarket over the road so that is worth doing. The supermarket sells everything but closes from about 1 till about 4. We went on a trip to tauraudant which was not worth the £26. I am not even sure I would bother with any of the trips as there is not a great choice. There were only three others on the trip and it just was not worth it. The guide did not seem too interested and the people that did the donkey ride got overly agressive about a "discretionary" tip. The hastling is common place and gets on your nerves after a while. There are two good restaurants opposite the hotel and are good value for lunch and drinks. La Lampera and Mogodor are the names and worth checking out. The staff are friendly and many of the hotel guests would wander over for drinks and food. There are plenty of things to buy and if you can be bothered it is well worth making a stupid offer and letting them haggle the price up. It is good fun and you can pick up good quality leather and ceramic goods. The Souk in Agadir was vile and well worth avoiding. The minute we walked in a "guide" accosted us and would not go away, He was obviously the market fixer and would take you to his mates stalls. The whole experience was ruined by overly agressive sellers who just pester you constantly. One bloke grabbed me and my partners hand when we tried to walk away and it is not nice. It is best to stick to the shops which I found were cheaper and less unpleasant. Check out the one fixed price shop which gives a guide to what you should be paying. The food in the hotel is varied and good. The breakfast is a good spread and no problems with dodgy stomachs. The rooms are good but the double rooms are two single beds pushed together. I recommend getting a safe which is £10 for the week. Agadir is well worth visiting and the hotel is good value for money and very clean. The weather was a bit patchy as the cloud took time to clear in the mornings but when the sun cameout it is roasting! I would recommend the Tivoli as from seeing other hotels in the resort which were a lot more money, there is not a great difference! Just stay clear of the souk!

The Supermarket across the road is good for pressies and no one hassles you!!! Agadir is quite an entertaining place - the souk is a great experience but I could'nt cope with the VERY intense haggling and bartering from the stall holders, lathough the designer copies are really good if you can cope with the bartering - you can be there about an hour as they don't give in easily. I am afraid I had to walk away in the end. We booked two trips with a local company called Tarik Reisen which were half the price of Thomsons, they were good trips but the 2nd guide did try to get more money out of us by saying that lunch was not included when it was - kind of spoit the day, also everyone expects a tip for everything they do and are very rude if you only give a small one!! - ungrateful I would say. My wife and I stayed here for a week's half board at the end of March 07. To sum up? Well it was a better all round holiday than we have had recently in a 5 star hotel Sharm el Sheik but it wasn't without one or two disappointments. Rooms good and generally clean - we checked the pillows and mattreses covers though and they were very stained. After a couple of phone calls the housekeeper came up and changed them for us. Pool nice and clean in a pretty garden setting - plenty of beds and comfortable mattreses but no poolside towels so take your own or ask the pool attendants and they will find some for you. We thought the food was pretty good too - not a great deal of variety over the week though they did try to change things eg Morrocan food one night, Italian the next - but mostly it was the International Buffet type offering. For a really nice meal try the La Scala restaurant 5 minutes walk away - great fish and steaks and very reasonably priced - about £7.50 for a steak or fish course. Trips? Well not brilliant in our view. If you decide to go on the trip to Taroudant and Tiout as we did, be advised that it's a pretty long journey and the real objective was to get you into the market area in Taroudant to spend money - which we did - rather than see the sights of what looked to be an interesting town. The visit to Tiout on the same trip was a bit of a con - the blurb talked about a donkey ride to an oasis - the donkey ride was fun but there was no oasis - it was simply a pretty crude irrigation system that you walked around till you met up with the donkeys again! Cheap and cheerful best summed it up for us - we spent a relaxing week for a relatively small cost

We went with 3 children aged 4, 7 and 11 years, they all enjoyed it, we never felt that our children were a nuisance, it was all very welcoming, food good, rooms clean, all round it was brill. My daughter and I enjoyed the hotels facilities - lovely gardens, great pool with sunbeds. Bedrooms were large and spotless with good terrace area. games were organised by the pool if you wanted to be active and all staff were friendly and very helpful. well positioned near to main beach and also quiet. Would visit this hotel again.

We took a five month old baby with us so it was very important that everything was clean and the room wasn't to hot or cold and the food was safe to eat so that we didn't get sick. Le Tivoli far exceeded our expectations for the price we paid. The room was vast in size with a huge double bed and a seperate area for our son and a pleasant bathroom and it had a lovely sunny balcony overlooking the garden. There were palms and flowering bushes in the beautifully maintained grounds, a gently heated outdoor pool with a safe childrens pool attached to it. There was a reasonably priced beauty salon were I had the post baby pampering I had been waiting for for so long; a pedicure, manicure, massage, sauna and jacuzzi none of which I would have afforded back here in London. The restaurant was spacious and all the staff were incredibly friendly and the food! Let's just say we didn't loose the pounds we promised ourselves we would. It was delicious. The lunches weren't included so we ordered food from the pool side cafe which was more than adequate and again, cheap! The beach was a few hundred yards from the hotel and there were shops and a souk (market) a short taxi ride or a healthy walk from the hotel. I never choose to write these reviews but for those nervous parents of small children like ourselves who are wondering if they're doing the right thing, I thought I would put our experience here as encouragement because we had a wonderful time and were very well looked after and made to feel very wecome. The decor and furniture is a bit tired, but still in good condition on the whole. One small warning - for a double room you get 2 single beds, not a double bed... The hot water was hot, but not quite as hot as I would have liked. We had half board and found the food to be good. The dining room is a bit on the small side and can get really hectic, especially if you go at a popular time (sometimes we had to sit in the smoking section). Everything is organised as a buffet, and there was a huge variety for breakfast and there was clearly an attempt to have a different themed selection every evening. Quite a lot of dishes were Moroccan style, but all more or less OK - the vegetarian stuff was on the whole better than the meat/fish dishes. Avoid the cocktails in the bar, though, they're not very good. The grounds of the hotel are nice - there's a big swimming pool and surrounding patio, a health/spa centre, tennis courts, handicraft stalls once a week, and lots of cats and kittens! The room was spacious and clean, our maid was very helpful and trustworthy , i am not sure what block we stayed in but was the first block on the left ,from coming out the reception to pool area. The hotel was in an excellent location for beaches , shops and other restaurants.The 4 star rating was incorrect i would say it was more of a 3 start , but the food was not fantastic with a poor selection for adults and children.The food temperature was always barely warm , so use microwave to re-heat .We found the waiters very friendly especially more so on the right hand side of the restaurant. The hotel is not very user friendly for older people or people in wheel chairs etc as there are a lot of steps but pool area is very nice . Would use again but only as bed/breakfast as foods so cheap i think you will have a better meal in a restaurant. Book trips with agent outside of hotel on the right from leaving reception, cheaper

I want to preface my review by saying, If you are not open to new cultural experiences, not interested in attempting to speak a different language, and expect Western experiences outside the West, then Morocco is not the vacation spot for you-- regardless of where you stay. This hotel is absolutely practical for a value stay (off the beach) in Agadir. Our room was spacious, clean, and did not reek of cigarette smoke. The staff is as helpful as they can be with the language barriers (I speak a little French). I have only one complaint-- the FOOD. You can do so much better at area restaraunts, i.e. La Scala or Golden Gate. The grounds were impecable, and the pool area pristine. The hotel is very close to the beach, shopping, banks, etc. If you want a night on the town, take a mini-taxi (they are cheap $2 for 3 people) and run very regularly. Agadir does not have a lot to offer beyond 5 or 6 days, so I would not book a stay there for more than a week. However, if you do visit, do not leave without booking an appointment at the Argane Spa-- ask for the Hamman treatment with a massage; guaranteed to be the highlight of your trip. Choekran!

However, after a couple of days the lack of warm water started to get annoying, so we asked to move block. What a difference! Block 2 had obviously been refurbished and was in top condition, vastly improving our opinion of the hotel. The pool area was clean with lots of beds (although the water was freezing!) and the restaurant, although chaotic at times, was clean with a good choice and variety of foods. All in all, a good budget choice as long as you stay clear of block 2! A top tip is to only change up small amounts of pound sterling at a time (there is no commission charge) in the hotel, as if you have any left over the conversion rate is appaling!

Its about a 15 minute walk into the centre of agadir, although if you didn't want to you wouldn't have to venture in, as there are shops and restaurants within a short walk of the hotel. Don't go expecting to be able to use the gym though - the running machine didn't work and all the other machines didn't have batteries. Also there is an aerobics studio but no classes! There are plenty of sun beds - never had a problem getting one, no matter how late we got up and there is also table tennis, tennis and volley ball courts. All in all a reasonable hotel - if you can get a good deal then i would recommend staying here.

There are plenty of sun beds - never had a problem getting one, no matter how late we got up and there is also table tennis, tennis and volley ball courts. All in all a reasonable hotel - if you can get a good deal then i would recommend staying here.

We stayed for 1 week at Le Tivoli and had a lovely time my husbad and my 1 year old son. The rooms were a bit tired but clean and comfortable and the rooms were cleaned every day towels etc. I would note if you are going to use a cot from the hotel be warned they are not what you would expect!! I likened it to the type you see in Romanian orphanges - metal and a bit rusty suffice to say my son slept with us! I would say to those with young babies - take lots of nappies if you run out they can be quite expensive and take a travel kettle also no fridges in the rooms so can be a bit tricky with formula etc we made as we needed. The hotel itself is set in beautiful gardens and all the staff were lovely and helpful. If you have young children they will get lots of attention!. The food : my husband and I are not fussy and enjoy eating foriegn food and we enjoy trying new things so I can't say an bad thing really fresh well cooked! The breakfast was lovely get there early though! Fresh pastries coffee ...my son eat everything and I was 100% happy to offer him a taste of everything , food offered was lovely . Drinks great value for money try the wine lovely!!! We had a brilliant holiday and would recommend.

I have been to this hotel on several occasions now and will continue to visit. The pool area is fantastic and the daytime entertainment is very good. In the evening in july and august there is a mini disco which is good for the children. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel for all types of holiday maker.

Just got back from a week in Agadir, staying at Le Tivoli. We travelled with Thompsons booked through local First Choice agents just two days before we flew out. (luckily not an expensive holiday as a result, unlike others we met who had payed more than double what we did) Nightmare to start with as had 4 hour delay on our BA flight which meant we arrived at the hotel around 11:30pm having missed dinner, there was no provision for us to eat at the hotel despite having payed half board (others on the same flight had meals waiting for them on their arrival at their hotels). Not a great start. The light of day showed a large clean, attractive bedroom, with a nice view over the gardens and pool. However no fridge in the room or even shampoo/shower gel which you would expect from a so called 3star+/4 star hotel. Towels and bedding changed daily and the maids did a very good job, however you aren't allowed to bring in your own food or drink, not even water( which was never provided free not even with the meals). We found it cost considerably more to buy bottled water at the bar, than over the road in the supermarket, so proceeded to sneak in bottles for the rest of the hoilday and saw many other guests doing the same!!!! Breakfast was average and being pregnant I found my choices rather limited to bread and fruit, my husband soon followed suit as unless you get up and eat between 6 and 8am the food had been out a while under the heated lights and was rather over cooked, even the croissants. The pool area was pleasant and never crowded, with ample free sunbeds and parasols however it would be a shame to miss out on the beautiful sandy beach just 15 mins stroll down the road. We highly recommend that you pay 20 dirhams for a sunlounger in the sectioned off private areas (can recomend Palm Beach) as the obligatory beach sellers can't hassle you there as they aren't allowed in without an invitation from you. The evening meal was much better and throughout the week we were pleased with the evening food, apart from the "in hotel" Moroccan night which gave us all severe tummy upsets. The entertainment at Le Tivoli is dire unless you like two men and an electronic keyboard every night singing the same songs. The Moroccan night was bad too we are convinced the "traditional" dancers were actually our room maids dressed up!! Agadir is not a place for young people who like clubs, we are in our 30's and not night club fans but do like to go to a bar for the evening. The english pub (overpriced) was nice if you want to forget you are in a foreign country (we didn't) The mexican restaurant/bar had a nice lively atmosphere but that was about it. Most other places were restaurants (of which there are many to choose from) which, when you have paid for half board at a hotel don't have much appeal, so if you can afford it go B&B and eat out. The last thing was the shopping, total nightmare, constant hassle from shop owners we only found one shop in the whole of Agadir where we were left alone to browse, needless to say we bough all our souvenirs there ( light shop next to the mexican restaurant). The medina d' Agadir is well worth a visit as it is beautiful. Overall a disappointing holiday, Le Tivoli is dated (although they are renovating some rooms at the moment), the staff are very nice, but for 4 stars you can do so much better in other hotels in Agadir (check out Tikida Beach as an example). The room was very spacious and well laid out,ideal for us.It was like two huge rooms in one,one half like the living area with two sofas that became beds and the other half with a king sized bed.The bathrom was large and clean. The grounds are extensive and the gardens are really well kept.The pool area is big and there are a lot of sunbeds with mattreses and umbrellas.It has a nice atmosphere.There is a bar and poolside restaurant so you can enjoy snacks and lunch by the pool.The children had a whale of a time there as they could play table tennis and other games with the entertainment staff.There are tenis courts which does have a fee.The gym and beauty centre are fine. The breakfast and evening meals are done bufet style,each night with a diferent international flavour.There was a reasonable amount of choice and on the whole quite tasty. The main gripes about our stay at the tivoli were the fact that there was a poor supply of towels by the poolside and in the rooms.It was dificult to get a towel to have on the lounger and considering the vast majority of guests had their own towels then that was unaceptable really.The couple of times that we got towels they were prety shoddy and past their sell by date.We were only provided with two bath towels in the room and we were four so we had to end up sharing despite asking for more. The rooms are only supplied with soap and no shower gel shampoo etc,which is standard for a four star. As mentioned by a previous writer there are a lot of steps everyway which is worth knowing if you have problems walking. All in all,not a bad location ,accessible to the beach,shops etc.We came to relax and that is what we got to do. However on an international standard I would rate the hotel as three star,three and an half but also good value for money.

The breakfast had a wide range of food on offer and the waiters were v attentive. As backpackers in our 20s, we kinda felt a bit out of place because at the particular time of year, it was mainly middle-aged to elderly package tourists. Our room had a big ensuite with lovely hot water all the time - trust me, this can get you excited. Many places we stayed at in Morocco did not have hot water. The beds were v comfortable and we had a sofa and tv too. The only channels I could understand being English was Sky News and CNN, most of the channels are German and French. But who comes on holiday to watch TV anyway! Like others have said, the decor was a little bit 'tired', but its clean and do remember Morocco does not have the same economy as Spain or Italy. The swimming pool was fairly cold, but its just what you want when its 35 degrees. V refreshing and clean. The hotel offers a day trip to Marrakech, but its better to try and do it for a few days. On a day trip, it does take 5-6 hours to drive there (one way) - even longer if you get stuck behind a lorry on the mountain road!

On April 2006 I went there with my husband for 2 days, then after 4 days away we came back for another more day. The rooms are large, beautiful, well furnished. The bathroom is large and comfortable. The common areas marvellous. The swimming pool area very nice. The breakfast buffet extremely rich and well presented. People very kind. Everything seems perfect... but pay attention to people that thinks to bee too sharp. During the first 2 days we didn't eat meals in the restaurant but somebody did it for us. Somebody signed with our name and room number the bill. Never leave your name in the room! But the receptionist (maybe used to this kind of fraud) let us not pay. The last day, moreover, the waitress of the swimming pool tried to steal us some money making sharp calculation for the bill. However this is a general attitude of Maroc, that I didn't expect to find in an hotel of so high level. Book always the room from internet because for our second visit we called by phone and asked for one room price: they asked a fare doubled. We booked in internet and saved a lot of money... Nevertheles the hotel is good and I recommend it if you go to Agadir.

I went to this hotel in April 06 with my husband and two grown up daughters and had a very good time.The rooms were pleasant, quite spacious and clean. The swimming pool area was lovely with plenty of free umbrellas, sunbeds and mattresses which were brought out readily by the cheerful young men who managed this area. They also arranged a program of entertainments. There was also a children's pool. All the staff we found to be pleasant and helpful. The dining room could get a little crowded but the food was generally good. It was the normal international buffet food that you get at this type of hotel with a variety of salads, meat casseroles and fish dishes. We particularly liked the delicious fresh oranges, melons and sometimes grapefruit which were served peeled and sliced at breakfast time. The gardens in the hotel are very well cared for and very colourful with bougainvillea and other flowering shrubs and trees.The massages in the Fitness centre were very good. The hotel is well situated near some shops and restaurants and is a short walk to the beach. The beach is very long and sandy but not particularly pretty (no palm trees or shrubbery) and with rubble on it in various places. There is not much evening entertainment in the hotel so you would have to go further afield for it but there are plenty of taxis. We went on the berber evening but were very disappointed. It was a lot of congo type dancing around fires. The food was poor - just a piece of fish and chicken in a runny tomato sauce and a flat type bread and an orange with some rough red wine. It was served at low coffee tables. As soon as we sat down we were given a liqueur drink which we had to pay extra for and we also had to pay for water. There are quite a few steps in the hotel so it may not be suitable for some people. One slightly irritating thing was that although they changed the towels every day, they took them away in the morning and did not bring the clean ones back until later in the afternoon so there were no towels if you needed them in the middle of the day. All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday which was good value and the weather was perfect (in the 80's) except for the day we came home when it rained a bit and was cloudy.

The gardens in the hotel are very well cared for and very colourful with bougainvillea and other flowering shrubs and trees.The massages in the Fitness centre were very good. The hotel is well situated near some shops and restaurants and is a short walk to the beach. The beach is very long and sandy but not particularly pretty (no palm trees or shrubbery) and with rubble on it in various places. There is not much evening entertainment in the hotel so you would have to go further afield for it but there are plenty of taxis. We went on the berber evening but were very disappointed. It was a lot of congo type dancing around fires. The food was poor - just a piece of fish and chicken in a runny tomato sauce and a flat type bread and an orange with some rough red wine. It was served at low coffee tables. As soon as we sat down we were given a liqueur drink which we had to pay extra for and we also had to pay for water. There are quite a few steps in the hotel so it may not be suitable for some people. One slightly irritating thing was that although they changed the towels every day, they took them away in the morning and did not bring the clean ones back until later in the afternoon so there were no towels if you needed them in the middle of the day. All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday which was good value and the weather was perfect (in the 80's) except for the day we came home when it rained a bit and was cloudy.

Agadir is a quaint town no hassle, enjoy the souks, meet and talk to the locals. A wonderful country go and enjoy yourselves as much as we did. Date of holiday 2nd to 16th april 2006.

Agadir is a quaint town no hassle, enjoy the souks, meet and talk to the locals. A wonderful country go and enjoy yourselves as much as we did. Date of holiday 2nd to 16th april 2006.

Location The hotel is not far from the seafront and is a 20min stroll into the centre of the town. A 20min walk the other way will take you to Souk El Had (indoor market) for all your souvenirs and to see where the locals hang out. Room The room was pleasantly large with a separate bed and living room area and a good size bathroom. The room had some nice authentic furniture but the carpet was grubby (note to hoteliers everywhere - don't choose light coloured carpets!). Our balcony faced towards the sea which was very nice. Food Pretty poor, for a 4 star I expected more than this. We only stayed B&B which was a good move, we tried the dinner once and that was enough. Just a really poor selection and very bland, nothing remotely authentically Moroccan. The breakfast was a little better, the traditional baked bread was lovely though the croissants were often cold. Personally, I can't stand to see cold meats at that time of the day but if you like that sort of thing then you'll be ok. Staff Excellent reception staff, very helpful. The restaurant staff made you feel very welcome. The cleaning staff were ok but as said before, the room could do with being redecorated. Excursions Unless you want to sit by the pool for the whole of your holiday I recommend going on some trips. We went with a local agency to Tafouant & Tiznit and Marrakesh, Casablanca and Essaouria. I'd recommend all these as you will see the 'real' Morocco, though Casablanca is a 7 hour drive along precarious mountain roads, beautiful rolling fields and stunning buildings. Go to Marrakech for souvenirs, the prices are slightly cheaper than Agadir and visit the huge mosque in Casablanca, absolutely amazing! The country Be prepared to haggle, for everything! Even your food. This can be quite stressful especially for Westerners who are used to paying a fixed price. We gave up buying a traditional Moroccan lamp and mirror from the various Souks and shops we visited, which was a shame. You have to have a fixed idea of what you want to pay and don't budge, just walk away. This usually does the trick but £60 for lamp a local can buy for £5-10 is ridiculous. I'm a little annoyed at the many 'green' tourists who go to Morocco and pay the inflated prices, it means the rest of us get priced out of buying souvenirs. We had an unpleasant incident at the Agadir Marina (Port), where a local boy tagged along with us and promised to 'take us to his dad's restaurant', we ended up having some very good fish but they charged us £40 to begin with! We argued and got it down to £20, which was still too much. Make sure you fix a price before you eat. I don't mind paying a fair price but some of the locals think you're a tourist so you will pay inflated prices. You feel very safe in Morocco, just remember it's a Muslim country so make sure you cover arms and legs when out of the hotel. As said before, be prepared to haggle, a rough rule is to go in at a third or quarter of what they say. On the whole the people were very nice and welcoming. Overall, the hotel was a 3 star place max. I'd recommend Morocco as a destination but try Marrakech or Essaouria as your base.

We returned from the Tivoli Sunday night (19th). Didn't know what to expect (we are used to 4-5* hotels in Tunisia).We'd also read some negative reviews on the Tivoli. But the hotel was very good. Yes it's not the newest and most modern hotel in Agadit but it's position for the town and the staff all made it an extremely good holiday. There was only a couple of things that may have let it down. The room was very dark, even in the day with all the lights on. Also we asked to keep our room for late check out - having been told it would be no problem to do so, so made all arrangements to enjoy final day in Agadir and check out 4pm - but then told with a shrug of the shoulders that it was not possible and had to check out 12. Don't mind checking out at 12 but annoyed that was told it wouldn't be problem. But all in all the Tivoli was a good hotel - nice food, staff, position, pool area. Would I go again - probably Tunisiamad
