We have just returned from our 1 week holiday in Morocco-Sud Bahia hotel. We would not recommende this "3 star" hotel to anybody. We have found this hotel very dirty. We did not find any bugs in our beddings but we found cockroaches crossing our room when we were there and we also seen them when having breakfast.This was very discusting and unconfortable and you loose your appetite to eat enything else that day.we were wondering how does it look like in the kitchen?we had just breakfast but eating croasaints every day for 7 days was more than enough.we did not dare to eat this kind of funny looking ham -in pinkish color and dodgy looking eggs. carpets in the hotel were very dirty and people at the recetion does not speak english. hotel room was bright but our bathroom was dirty,floor was not been cleaned very well and towels had kind of grey color . we are still wondering how is it possible that hotel like this gets 3 star hotel rating?

I returned this morning from a weeks stay at the Hotel Sud Bahia in Agadir. After reading some of the reviews on this site, I was dreading arriving at the hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. The carpets may be a bit worn and tatty but it was fine. Our room overlooked the pool. The beds looked new and our bedding was nice and clean. The room and bathroom were both very clean and were cleaned daily. Our bedding was changed once during our stay. The towels looked gray but they were still clean. There was plenty of rolls, pastries, croissants , pancakes etc for breakfast and they were fresh. There was scrambled egg and some sort of meat which looked like luncheon meat but they called it bacon every day (we never tried any of it). There was also yogurt, tomatoes, olives, 3 different preserves and a plentiful supply of tea and coffee. We ate out in the evenings as the hotel is very centrally located. On the minus points, there are very few sunbeds and no parasols for shade. The staff were very friendly. I would probably class it as a 2* hotel and ideal if all you're looking for is a base with a decent breakfast and a nice clean room.

This Hotel was the worst Hotel i have ever stayed in (Trust me i've been backpacking and had way better) The smell on arrival hits you straight away. Almost like raw sewage! You then embark on what only can be described as a hike to your room. The lift is at one end of the building and which ever route you take you still have a hike. The trip to your room will take you down dark and dingy corridors covered in worn carpet that looks like its been there for 40 years. In case you were wondering that smells too. When entering your room be prepared for a shock. On first glimpse your intial reaction will be "Basic". With a closer look you will see dirt everywhere. You will not manage to feel clean for the duration of your stay. During my stay my bedding was not changed once! The bedding already had blood stains on it. My friend found a dead bug in hers! Check out the head boards they harber a whole range of bodily fluids. Do not expect anything to work. We had to change rooms on our second night due to the sounds and banging from the room opposite. This was the MALE prostitutuion that kept me awake all night. We were moved one floor up. To a whiter but still dirty room. The shower was filthy to the point that i came back from holiday unwell, with suspected Legionnaires. This was due to the dirt incasing the shower head. It turns out i'd picked up a virus from the hotel. Probably the same one two waiters had. They asked me for paracetemol! If you use the toliet be prepared to face the very dirty bidet. There is literally 10 cm gap between toilet and bidet. The pool has green fur round all the vents and is missing tiles . Breakfast is stale and consits of warm processed meat (DO NOT EAT) slimey eggs complete with shell and 3 types of pastry which is eadible if you have a pair of bolt croppers for teeth! Hotel entertainment consits of local female hores and don't forget the male ones too. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE! This hotel does not deserve one star let alone 3.

This hotel was by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Because it is so cheap, you can almost forgive the fact that its basic but i found a dead bug in my bed and it was a downhill slope from there. The breakfast was made up of stale rolls and slimey eggs. There were no clean sheets all week, no towels for three day and the shower was never clean, the pool had green slime around the grills and there is prostition going on in the hotel. At night when the bar would close, all that would be left would be some hookers and a few "business men". ************AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST************** P.s - You have been warned!!

Discount travellers of all countries unite! We've seen people from almost all countries in Europe and some Moroccan tourists as well. Most of them a bit horrified when seeing the breakfast buffet (a bit trashy). But with a real good price we still see it as a good choice. We booked it for two weeks, staying three das at the beginning and at the end and travelling one week to marrakech an safi and essaouira. It was cheaper tha the flight alone and it was fairly well. After changing the room from the first to the fourth floor we had a clean, spacious and quiet room with sea view. not bad at all paying € 800 for a family of two adults and two babies. it might not be a European 3* hotel, but Morocco is not a European country. So - WE would come back!

As a base for a week in Morocco this hotel was perfect for us. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was a standard continental as you'd expect. (Plenty of pain au chocolat and croissants with coffee to set us up for the day). This hotel won't be any good for people who like to go on holiday to spend a lot of time in their hotel, as the decoration is tired and a bit shabby, but for those who like a clean base for a bed and breakfast and maybe a couple of days by the pool it is fine - for the price you pay the value for money was spot on. I'd say this hotel should probably be classed as a 2 star. The staff helped us out by arranging car hire and showed us good routes to take for days out. There is also a currency exchange at the reception (which is good as it was impossible to find anywhere else that would exchange travellers cheques). We never ate an evening meal in the hotel as it is right in the centre of agadir with plenty of restaurants, shops and the beach front a short walk away.

Im rating this hotel okay only beacuse of money value that is really nice. Still the hotel itself is shabby and dissapointing. Rooms and premises seem to be never renovated since 1980's, pool was dirty and the food in restaurant rather poor. You can hardly find a sun mattress for the day, so bring a couple of towels with you. as for the staff it was friendly and room cleaning was okay. Still the hotel is definetely not 3 stars

Within 24 hours of checking into this hotel, my daughter and I moved to another hotel - at a cost. On entering it was uninviting - there was chipped/broken tiles outside and the nets in reception were filthy. The hallways were dingy with threadbare carpets. Our room was also dingy and dark. The only light and air was the door onto a communal terrace which we didnt feel safe to leave open. The shower was a drip . The towels were grey and well worn and the bed linen heavy.The furniture and decoration was shabby with peeling paintwork. The aircon/heater (we were unsure what it was) was not safe to use. Along with the rest of the hotel the pool and gardens looked as though they had seen better days. My daughter refused to swim in the pool as it looked very cloudy - it did look as though it needed emptying with a good scrub. The breakfast was also unwelcoming - in that it did not look fresh, and a man near to us was not allowed to take his cup of coffee outside to drink. More to the point this hotel had a smell from when we entered to when we left which was not nice. This hotel looked like it was a brilliant place once but due to years of neglect it does not warrant 3 stars but in fact would be hard placed to earn 1 star. On checking out other 3 star hotels in Agadir the Sud Bahia is a severe disappointment.

This is a very shabby, smelly hotel. Not very clean. Staff are miserable! The pool didn't look like it had been cleaned in a month let alone every day. Definitely not a 3 Star Hotel.... as advertised in England. Actually got chatting to an Irish Man and was informed that it is classed as a 2 Star in Ireland.... a more appropriate rating. If you get a choice between the Karmel or the Sud Bahia as we did, go for the Karmel. We actually changed hotels after a day to the 'beach club'... which is a four star but much, much nicer!

Felt I had to write after seeing the other reviews on here! We have just checked out of the Sud Bahia and had a thouroughly pleasant stay. The rooms although fairly shabby and in need of a little paint were clean, comfortable with good beds, chair, table, and TV. The bathroom again was clean and had a bath/shower which regularly had hot water (cold bathing was an issue we had encountered whilst travelling the country). The grate in the bathroom did echo and you could hear next door, but generally we did not need to spend much time in the bathroom, preferring to be out in the sun so this was not a problem! We also did not encounter any of the prostituion mentioned in the previous review. As two single woman travellers we felt quite safe walking around the many streets in Agadir and those around the Sud Bahia were no exception. One thing to watch is the amount of people who will go and grab a lounger and put towels on it to reserve it for the day even if they do not use it until 4pm!! We did mention this to staff and they were apologetic. The pool was clean with nice grounds and the breakfast was typically moroccan with it's meat, olive, ornages, bread and petit pains which were all fresh. The snack bar served some lovely lunches and other meals we took on the beach side which was a five minute walk away. Considering the price ( we paid 40 pounds each on lastminute for a five night stay inc breakfast) this hotel is very good value. It is not five star and to any travellers expecting luxuries like fluffy robes I would not recommend this. But anyone touring the area looking for a cheap friendly hotel to stay at, then try the Sud Bahia!!

The Sud Bahia doesn't claim to be anything other than what it is - a below 2* tourist hotel. The rooms are incredibly basic and old fashioned (1st and 4th floors have been 'refurbished'), like somehting straight out of the 50's. The long corridors are lined with dirty thinning carpet, and the first thing to strike you when you enter is the smell of dirty water/sewage. There is no air conditioning, in fact the rooms are equipped with heaters ! The pool area is fine, not much room for sunbeds. Food is basic too - increaingly stale bread rolls, olives etc. The evening meals are OK, and the service pretty good (staff made us laugh the way they just threw the cutlery on the table!). Most worrying is the location - whilst a perfect distance from beaches, town etc, the hotel is in the middle of the red-light district - male prostitutes offered themselves on several occaisions. The whole area is run down, but there are lots of intersting shops etc in the area. All in all, avoid this hotel if you are used to the Western idea of 2*.

My partner and I stayed in the Sud Bahia for a week at the end of July 2006. It is a self-proclaimed three star; I would realistically give it one. It is very old fashioned and the decoration is worse than my grannies! The door to our balcony was wooden and very stiff and had to be shoved to be closed, it had peeling paint on it and could have done with being renewed or repainted. The balconies were linked to the rooms next to us so we never left our door open unless we were there and not sleeping. The plug socket in the bedroom scared me, every time I used my hairdryer it sparked when I removed the plug, it did not seem very safe. The ventilation shaft in the bathroom (there was no window in the bathroom) was like a tunnel, I could hear the neighbours in their bathroom and hear everything they were doing, not what you need to be hearing! We found the food for the breakfast very unimaginative, it was a variety of white breads, two sorts of croissants, tomatoes, olives, sliced meat, preserves, with scrambled eggs everyday. No variety in the menu at all. The rooms were cleaned daily but I do not think the sheets were changed at all while we were there. We used one particular set of stairs daily (there were may different sets of stairs) as the lifts were broken more than they worked and being on the third floor made it a pain, I was just glad we didn’t have small children or disabled travellers as many other guests did. On these stairs was a dead cockroach on the same step, everyday for a week, so obviously other parts of the hotel were not cleaned in the same way as the guests rooms were. If we every stayed in Agadir again we would definitely not stay in this hotel.

Stayed here in June 2006, room clean and tidy and refreshed daily by the room service staff, whom were extremely friendly. Good tourist class hotel in a quiet street away from the main beach and close to the main square in the centre of Agadir, Hotel has a large swimming pool. Breakfast of fresh oranges breads, cold meats, scrambled eggs and preserves, plus tea and coffee. Cafe next door is really good for Te Anglais ( english tea).

Our tour group stayed in Sud Bahia for one night. Room was clean and comfortable. Walls were quite thin. Our door shook every time our neighbors closed their door. Our room had a ventilation shaft located in the bathroom. Around 2:00 AM, a strange cigarette odor starting coming from the ventilation shaft. We would have liked to have opened our balcony door to air out the room but our balcony was linked to the other balconies on our floor. Currency exchange is located at the front desk. Postage stamps and miscellaneous toiletries can be purchased at the convenience store next to the hotel. An ATM was located at the end of the block. Hotel restaurant offered a set menu for our tour group. Breakfast buffet consisted of breads with assorted spreads, meat, olives and miscellanous vegetables. Coffee and tea were served by hotel staff. Not a bad hotel. If we returned to Agadir, we would consider staying at other hotels located closer to the beach.
