We've just got back from a week at the Igoudar Appts. & had a fabulous time. The appartments have everything you need, are very clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be better for the beach, bars, clubs & restaurants. We loved it.

Arrived early September in a heatwave. Apartment very hot and wife suffering Hot Sweats. No air-con (seems to be rare in Morrocco except for top-class hotels), and nowhere to hire or buy one locally. Local restuarant maitre d' be that bad as took pity on us and arranged for one to be there at 11am the following day, which it was! Things just got better after that. Although the Igoudar was a bit basic, it supplied everything a holidaymaker needed. The staff throughout the establishment were as helpful and friendly as could be. The sooner you come to understand the differences in standards between Morrocco and the UK in terms of Health and Safety etc. the better your holiday will be. Not to say it is dangerous to holiday there, more that you come to understand how we are wrapped in cotton wool at home. It is remarkable how safe we felt (A pair of 60 year olds) but there are plenty of policemen about, safe but not in a police state. The stallholders and restuaranters try to entice you into their establishment, as we would expect, but are not in any way nasty if you decline their invitation. There are few self-catering establishments in Agadir, and from what I gleaned during my two weeks there, the Igoudar was at least as good as any. i will probably not go back to Morocco as I feel we have seen enough to give us a feel of the country, but if I were to return, I would certainly go back to the Igoudar. PS If you go to anywhere in Morocco, you must visit Marrakesh!!

Igoudar Appts, Agadir. Would I go back ?? The answers, respectively, are maybe and most definitely. The apartment was clean and well decorated, but clearly hadnt seen an interior designer since Richard Burton married Liz Taylor...the first time round !!!! Having said that, they were cleaned every day and always had fresh linen supplied. The need to share said accommodation with a colony of ants was slightly off-putting, especially when the black army decided the single beds were more comfortable than their usual garbage patch. The pool was satisfactory but I can imagine, in the high season, there would be a necessity for serious early morning scrumages in order to secure a sunbed. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and if your Arabic was slightly less fluent than your English (believe me, I did have cause to question this with some of the holidaying occupants), then a switch to French usually sufficed. Passable English was muttered by many...actually better than some true Brits. All in all, a passable place to stay, but I saw other hotels that looked of decidedly better quality. I guess it boils down to the quality, errr I mean quantity, of your bank account. Agadir, in and of itself, was not typical of Morroco, being designed purely to pamper the tourist, so please ensure you do try a few trips. This is a case of personal suck-it-and-see, as the ones I experienced were (long and tiring but) fine and well worth doing. There were plenty of places to eat, but I found that over 2 weeks it was a case of revisiting some of the better ones. The menus were almost a perfect reflection from one to the other - maybe the local union decided it was wise not to confuse us too much !!! I thoroughly recommend Le Jardin D'eau and Fouquets, the Paella at the latter being absolutely fabulous. A word of caution, the shop owners tend to loiter on the pavement and pounce on you - a simple La Shukran (no thank you) should suffice, but if the seller persists then a repetition should discourage the more ardent. Do not make eye contact or smile whilst saying this, as it as taken as a willingness on your part to barter. On the whole, a fantastic place to visit and, for those who like it hot, wall-to-wall sunshine pretty much guaranteed for 9 hours a day. Must have something to do with Agadir being on the edge of the Sahara desert huh ?? Enjoy !!!!!!

booked online through first choice and on the whole have enjoyed the holiday but perhaps 2 weeks is too long. We were also in 2 bed apt on ground floor and would have preffered to be higher up as there is no balcony or patio area and no view of anything except the opposite apartments. It was interesting to find out that first choice only have ground floor. It may be worth booking with somebody else as the apartments upstairs appeared nicer with shared rooftop space. To be honest i was a bit shocked when first entering the apt as it smelled of damp, the kitchen was tiny and the sink was cracked (see pics) The lights had no lamp shades and the beds were damp. We had to use a hair dryer to air the beds each night. Having spoke to others i think perhaps we had one of the worst apts as theres didn't seem as bad. On saying that they were large enough and had plent of wardrobe space etc. BUGS only a couple of cockroaches, no mosquitos and a couple of wasps. FOOD No food is served at the bar as it is not allowed for s.c. apts to serve food. There is a bar on the front that sometimes serves breakfast or you can go to the corner shop and get bread croissants eggs etc but not a lot else. If your kids are fussy eaters take a few tins of stuff they like. There is a large supermarket which you can get a taxi to (costs about 3 quid each way) you can buy more things there including some sort of animal testicals if that appeals to you. You couldnt really cook much of a meal in the kitchen so lunch tends to be bread and cheese or going out to a restaurant. We ate out every night and there is a massive choice of restaurant serving pizzas, pastas, steaks, tangines etc. There is even a mcdonalds and pizza hut if that is your kind of thing. The food in the restaurant we ate in was all brilliant. The nicest one is jardin d 'leu with a lovely waterfall inside and the nicest desserts ever (try the orange pie) The Jazz restaurant is the next best with a superb fillet steak au poivre. WEATHER we were dissapointed when we first arrived by how cloudy it was but it usually clears up by afternoon and it is usually warm enough to sit by pool. we got good tans through the clouds without burning and its a nice temperature for the kids the second week was much hotter (about 30 degrees) SUNBEDS I dont know if this is the usual, but we found if you hadn't put a towel on a sunbed by 9.30 you would struggle to get one. also they are a bit battered but they do have mattersses you can put on them and if you don't get a bed there are always plenty of mattresses. ENTERTAINMENT There is alway something going on around the pool for kids and adults they have regular water polo, swimming races, table tennis and snooker tornaments. The fellas at the pool do a brilliant job keeping them entertained. you can also do water aerobics and bingo some of the tournaments and bingo have a small charge. At night a couple of times they have moroccan dancers etc and they are a good laugh to join in with. On other nights they have kids dance competitions and discos which they love. The atmosphere in the evenings is pretty good, the bar stays open until 12ish. In the corner of the hotel is a stall selling nuts which he covers in hot honey etc make sure you try them they are delicious. He will let you try each type before you buy them. CLOTHES mostly casual clothes but take a few cardis as it gets cold at night. KIDS My kids had a great time made loads of friends the people are mostly either moroccan or english with a few french and all the kids seemed to get on. Most of the morocan kids speak English my boys are 12 and 14. Be careful if you have small kids as the pool is quite deep in the middle and the lifeguards had to pull a couple of them out whilst we were there. MONEY lots of cash machines or you can change English currency to dirhams. You cannot get dirhams here and you are not allowed to take any out with you. MARRAKESH Would recomend the 2 day marackesh tour except that we were told we would be on an airconditioned coach but as this was full the people from the igoudar were put on an old minibus with no air con. On the second day you are on this bus for 7/8 hours in temperatures of up to 45 degrees over bumpy roads and we all felt quite ill. We booked through first choice so make sure you tell the rep that you only want to go if its on the coach. After, saying that we really enjoyed the trip, it is not for the faint hearted. quite a lot of walking. Tthe souk is like going back hundreds of years and just walking through the square at night was an experience i will never forget. AIRPORT. Better than expected. Duty free shop sells most spirits etc and you can buy marlboro cigs.(about 15 quid for 200 there is a bar to buy drinks and sandwiches. ALCOHOL muslims don't drink alcohol so some of the restaurants in agadir don't sell it but most do. In marakesh and Essouider most don't.

Went to Agadir from 12th July until 19th July. Booked through First Choice on the Internet and cost about £200 per person (1 was a child). No air con when you arrive in Morocco airport, would recommend a small fan if you dislike the heat as there is some waiting round to be done as it's takes a while to get through immigration and baggage etc. Once we had filled in more forms at the hotel and were given our room key. We asked to change rooms, as the view was OK but nothing special. Reception staff said First Choice people are only on the lower floor, (which is still above street level and is OK) so we stayed put! Hotel was good for the price. We had a 2-bed apartment and a 1-bed apartment. Large rooms, mostly clean. The shutters, which are pulled across the windows, are quite stiff. Towels were changed daily. Water was usually cold for showering but warmed up if you left it to run for about 10 minutes. Some ants and other insects but nothing much. The pool is OK, nothing special. Bit cold to start but after you get in it's OK. They do daily activates, such as water polo. We bought sun lounges to out apartments, which was good. There is a much better pool near the beach. You pay to get in (quite cheap though). They have a small water slide, private beach and good food! We went on the town excursion. This was quite good and I would recommend it. Just watch out for the men at the top of the Casbar (top of the hill). As soon as you get off the coach they drag you to their camels and babies to hold and demand money. One man became very nasty towards us and was very very annoying!!! Watch out for the shop owners. They become quite annoying after a while, wouldn’t recommend going into a shop unless you actually want something. They pester and pester you constantly! Make sure you haggle with the price; you can always get them down to half the first price they say and maybe some more. I found that if you walk out of the shop they would come after you and offer a lower price. If you go to a Souk - don't venture to far. We went to the main Souk with the town excursion and we had 30 mins to look around. The place is massive and once inside it all looks the same. It became quite scary after 25 minutes, as we had no idea where we were! In the end we found our way to the meeting point just in time!! I would definitely recommend the 4x4 safari - this was amazing. Bit of a bumpy ride to start but some of the things you see are amazing. (Banana Plantation, Massive Dam, Sand Dunes with a man with scorpions and snakes, traditional food at a Palace, coastline where fisherman live and sell their goods on the shore, traditional pottery place, a small town which specialise in silver) - EXCELLENT!!! Would recommend the following: 1) Buying alcohol on the plane or at duty free as it was nicer than the Moroccan spirits. 2) Take a jacket as it's a cold wind at night! 3) Ladies - cover up. 4) Make sure you give your money to the waiter at the end of meal / drink as we had someone pinch out money which caused some problems.

Great location and pretty clean inside - had the odd cockroach and loads of cats about!! Nice pool though and very quite even though on a busy road. Beach not far away and town easy distance. Good food just around the corner at Jardin L'eau, not bad price either. More expensive in Morocco than expected mainly because of tipping. Only complaint was being pestered for money ALL the time!! Started as soon as you are off the plane - couldn't shop without being hassled, couldn't take pictures without being hasselled either. If your soft over animails be prepared for sad sights of donkeys, horses and camels!!

we have just returned from two weeks staying at the Igouder aps and must say really enjoyed ourselves.To be honest the apts do need agood refurbishment but were very spacious,we had a two bedroom apt with a small kitchen (ample for us we ate out every night) a large lounge area with dining table and chairs,a bigish bathroom with bath and overhead shower and seperate loo,all in all plenty of space.Towels were changed on a daily basis and our sheets were changed at least 4 times whilst we were there.There was a fair size patio with garden furniture( again needs replacing).The pool area is large and we spent a lot of time there, not crowded at any time we even took our own drinks from our fridge and no one seemed to mind(we ar'nt tight ,ours was colder than theirs). All the staff were lovely and friendly from the reception to the domestics.The bar at the pool left a lot to be desired cos if you did'nt drink beer or wine there was'nt much else to have,although to be honest it was not very well patronised.taking children ..well i'm not sure weather it would be for them unless they love the water(i do) as the kiddies pool looked safe and there is plenty of room to put your lounger right where you can keep an eye on them. The apts are in a good position for the beach (about 10 mins walk away) and an exellent position for the restarants (on the dorstep).All in all good value for self catering if you like us like to eat out anyway.

These apartments are VERY basic, but large and mostly clean. Perhaps could do with some refurbishment. We found the beds to be comfy and no need for air con in early May (the nights were a little chilly). The windows also had wooden sliding shutters which kept the rooms cool. Apartment had a full sized fridge, kettle, 2 ring cooker and usual pots and pans. Maids came daily to change towels, make beds and clean floors, but we found they weren’t too hot on cleaning kitchen, sinks and bath (not to my standard anyway). Good idea to take EAR PLUGS. There were quite a few cats around the apartments, which did wake us up at 5.00 am with a full on cats chorus. Don’t know where the birds got such a loud tweet from either but one breed in particular was amazingly loud, each time dawn broke, followed by usual tweeting sparrow like birds and nice wood pigeons. Nice once you have woken but not that early! Apartments are arranged around little courtyards which appear to make all sorts of daily sounds/talking etc echo an awful lot. Doors to apartments were extremely rudimentary and were constantly being slammed shut. Tables and chairs scraped along tiled floors also added to noise. We were on the first floor and had a large balcony to share with our neighbour. There was a clothes maiden also outside for your washing. The pool area was fair, with comfy sunloungers and parasols. Pool wasn’t heated. There were a few people selling wooden ornaments, jewellery etc. around the pool area all at a fair price (with a little haggling). There also a little hut near the pool selling snacks including nuts which they heat up and crystalise in hot sugar whilst you wait. The old man who opens the door to Igoudar is extremely friendly and deserves a tip or two. They also provided a room to wash/shower and change in for everyone to use on the day of departure, although there were plenty of clean bathrooms around to use too. We didn’t get hassled to buy drinks in the bar or around the pool which was quite amazing and so unlike other hotels, and yet their prices were very fair. The hotel also exchanges money and in addition all around the resort are cash like machines which you can exchange money either by inserting paper notes or your cash card. There is a little supermarket to the left of the hotel which sells basics like water, bread, milk etc. Very handy and fair prices too. The apartments are well situated, just a short walk to the beach and the main road which has restaurants and shops on, yet in May, not that close to cause any disturbance with noise. All in all a fair hotel (apart/hotel) for the price and in a good spot. Staff very nice and friendly. Would recommend to anyone on a budget or who wants basic self catering option.

Slow in the reception, and the cleaning in the apart. was minimal. There was no staff in the pool-area? and in the bar? I wonder where they are, maybe sleeping?? I have been in Agadir 6 times before in different hotel, but this is the badliest I have sleeping at. (bedbug) I don´t recomend this labyrint-hotel to you!!

We were staying in this hotel between the dates of the 12th February 2006 and 19th February 2006. Having never been to Morocco previously we were very apprehensive and so came on this site to get some feedback on people's reviews - very accurate! The appartments are SO clean, the cleaners come in EVERY SINGLE DAY and do a really thorough job. Everyone is very friendly at Igoudor, from the arabian man at the main door who holds it open for you, to the reception staff, baggage handlers and bar staff. There is plenty of entertainment put on around the pool during the day and also inside at night time and the staff who organise the bingo, water aerobics, ping pong and pool tournaments are brilliant and always have a smile on their face. The appartments are plenty big enough for anyone. I was travelling with my boyfriend and we had a four bed appartment, not all squashed in either. There were 5 rooms in the appartment; - the main bedroom, the lounge also with two beds in, the kitchen which was sufficient for anyone's needs, the shower room and a toilet room. All to brilliant standard. Do not be put off by the fact that you may have read there are a lot of appartments at the Igoudor, as actually it has a very private feel to it being the way it is all set out and so it actually feels smaller than it is. The sun loungers can either be placed around the pool (good if you have children so you cvan keep an eye on them), or up in the sun trap terrace where it is very peaceful. Be warned, the pool is COLD! Staying on the subject of the sun loungers, the staff, when they see you walking to get a sun bed, would always rush up and do it for you, very confortable mats also to put on the beds. There is an arab man by the stairs up to the pool from reception, usually wearing a blue robe and with his own little stall. There is no need to be wary of him. He is probably the nicest person in Agadir, and will go very low on prices with a little bit of haggling! All in all i was very impressed with everything about these appartments and would recommend it to ANYONE.

The Igoudar is a great value unpretentious apartment hotel, with friendly staff and many repeat visitors (including ourselves). Weather is great late March onwards and the hotel uncrowded, possibly too quiet for some. Prices vary enormously between operators so shop around/haggle with high street resellers for the best bargains. The photos on this and the Expedia site are a very accurate representation of the hotel and rooms. The small entrance belies a vast sprawling complex behind and above the shops on the road, but the "souk"-like layout makes it seem much smaller and more private, though you are bound to get lost. Rooms higher up mostly have more privacy and better terraces/views but are a stiff climb after that night on the town. Hotel is definitely a no-no for anyone with a walking disability. We also recommend the Jazz Restaurant below the hotel for that night out - both for food and music. Pricey by Agadir standards but pretty OK by UK reckoning. Don't dis the guy in the shop by the entrance. If I had to work there 13 hours a day 7 days a week I'd be miserable at times too. He's only making a living and we're millionaires next to him. A few words of Arabic ("shukran", "hubz") and a smile and he can be quite helpful. Agadir is not your traditional Morocco, but has the advantage of a beachside and low latitude location. Try a visit to the small town museum on the modern square if the weather clouds over in March for a view of a very different way of life. Otherwise trips to the mud walled town of Taroudant and the berber village of Tioute where tourism are only just beginning are well worth it. Check out the goats up the argan trees en route, but don't forget to tip the lads who put them there! We're back at the Igoudar in 2006. (Please feed the cats for us - don't worry if you don't like cats, there aren't many and they only turn up if you encourage them!) Tony and Kath UK.

Hotel and staff were fantasic. My husband and I went with our 3 year old daughter (who got more attention from the locals that your could ever imagine - to the point of being damn near famous!). Would hightly recommend Le Jazz Restaurant. The staff are extreamly helpful and friendly, the food is fantastic every time (especially the chocolate mousse and the creme brulee). But best of all is the singer, Otman Lahlou, who made our daughters holiday by singing and dancing with her. He has the most amazing voice and the pianist is pretty fantastic too. Recommend the trip on the catamaran - out of this world, fantasic food - amazing. Would not recommend Marakech - we went on the 1day and were dragged around like school kids to places we didn't want to see with no time to explore ourselves. The souk we went to was an eye-opener with people welding and grinding in the middle of the street - we walked through what looked like 'barter town' in 'mad max' - unbelieveable. I guess not all tours are alike, so would recommend you get an itinerary of the day before you book. All in all, amazing place, fantasitc people. Will definatly go again! Best holiday we've ever had.

Stayed from 17th - 24th September 2005. Maid service daily with a change of towels. Receptioin and staff very friendly and helpful. A fused bulb was replaced immediately. Enough room in the apartment which was kept clean by maids. It was central to the beach and restaurants. Uniprix shop only 15 minutes walk away. A little supermarket to the left of the hotel was handy for a few items. Went to Marreskesk for an overnight. Stayed in the Hotel Farah just a few minutes from the square. Beautiful room and food. Ate at Jardin d'eau, The Scala, Mimi. They were all good. The Scala probably was the best while Mimi had good food at a cheap rate. Would definitely go again.

Hi-just back(now-today-just unpacked-there this morning!!!) I agree with a lot of the other remarks-hotel fine,staff friendly.location good-but also pool music too loud and obtrusive-I get the impression that the music is the fave of the pool staff-I don't really need American gangsta rap when I'm chillin out-wtch out for the local shops I was charged 15 Dh (£1) for half a litre of milk in a shop just outside the complex(backing on to the hotel)when the shop owner found we were only buying milk!! if you're buying clothes fine Uni prix on Boulevard de 20 Aout -I've seen the local shop keepers in there shopping for there own shops ..............abd will someone plse strangle that bloody parrot thats on all night!!!

Stayed for 15 days in Igoudar. The apartements are basic, but good enough and clean. No insects in sight! Small kitchenette, but nobody uses it for heavy cooking. Just fot making tea and coffee. Nice people at the reception. They clean the room every day and leave fresh towels. Only minor negative feeling: the swimming pool was a bit noisy. I don't need loud music and entertaining, but maybe others do... and there is always the very large beach around the corner! Good place to stay if you don't want a resort. Good price also... Both myself and a friend (two girls) stayed at the Igoudar for a week. We had the time of our lifes and would go back next year, but this time for longer and maybe travel round Morocco as we felt we only scratched the surface of this amazing country. The staff were very frinedly and would help with any advise on where to go, what to do and general area info.

I stayed at Igoudar with my parents in Feb. We got a great deal and were pleasantly surprised with the accomodation. The rooms were fairly big and very clean. The bathroom wasnt amazing but i've seen worse (being a student!) There were activities going on during the day such as waterpolo, races and a tug of war across the pool. There was also bingo and ping-pong at the poolside. The pool was average, it did have very 70's features which were a bit ugly, but there was a lot of people my age there so i had a great time joining in with the games. In the evening there were moroccan bands, a belly dancer and a snake charmer. They were all very good and i had the opportunity to hold a snake and belly dance, but not at the same time! We also did some karaoke there which was a laugh. There is lots to do in Agadir, jet-skiing and camel riding were the main highlights. All the people working at Igoudar are very friendly, and i got to know them well. Especially Chaveek! If any1 has a pic of him, do me a favour and e-mail it me plz! The steps didnt put me off like some ppl mentioned in the reviews, despite being right at the top! As my dad asked for a view! It was a lovely view and it wasnt difficult goin up them. Some ppl at the bottom said they had a view of a wall which i thought would be pretty awful. Overall it was a good hol and we were there i think at the same time as the Welsh guy who wrote the other review about the surfing! Do you remember watching us play the snooker tournament? That was another activity within the bar.

We got a cheap last minute package deal and booked the Igoudar for a week. We hired a car for the duration and used the apartment as a base - we ended up spending 4 nights there and 3 in other accommodation. The complex is well located in the middle of the tourist town and an easy stroll to the beach. Parking is on the street but is easy and safe. The apartment itself was basic but immaculately clean and obviously newly painted. The fittings and fittings were a bit dated but perfectly functional. The apartments are scattered in 4 or 5 storey blocks and there are steps everywhere - not too much of a bother to us as we were on the ground floor of our block but those on the upper floors must have been as fit as. The higher rooms have more chance of having a proper terrace but you pays your money and takes your choice. Possibly. The complex is kept clean and well maintained but there isn't much to soften the 60's architecture. The pool is fine and there are plenty of loungers - we didn't spend much time there as the beach bars rent out very comfortable sunbeds and parasols for £2.50 a day. There is daily water polo and bingo but also a non stop barrage of really bad music. These apartments are certainly not fancy but what they do they do perfectly adequately. Agadir is a good destination for those who don't want to follow the herds down to Greece. The food is good, the beach is fine and it is all cheap. Renting a car gives you the freedom to take off to some more Moroccan destinations - the driving is surprisingly easy, safe and civilized. You can then blow some of the money you save by staying at the Igoudar on a swanky suite at Les 3 Chameaux. If you get a flight only deal it costs about £30 a night rack rate which is no bargain.

Stayed in Igoudar apartments first week in march. Going back again next year. Very happy with apartments. Very clean, beds were big enough plenty of pillows,blankets,towels. People very helpful if you wanted anything extra. We went as a bunch of 8 girls and had 2 apartments between us. Plenty of hot water, cups, plates. No tv but we didnt go to watch tv so that was fine. Apartment have a lovely private feel from them as they are all pointing in different directions. Only thing and this is not a fault but someone might need the info there is steps... we were on the second floor and had roughly 20 steps to manage only useful if steps are a problem. The other thing and this is for Agadir in general if you are allergic to cats the place is full of them. I like cats so this was not an issue. Over all very happy with them

Recently visited Igoudar Apartments on a low budget surf trip with my girlfriend. Not really having found any reviews on it we were a bit unsure of what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. It's basic but clean. We had a great room - right at the top (100 steps) but was a nice size and had room for 4 to sleep in including a roof terrace and loungers althoguh we were out everyday so didn't use them. It's so cheap to eat out there that the kitchen wasn't used - it was pretty basic - a 2 ring affair but plenty of pots,utensils and a kettle and fridge. Alot of the rooms don't have views so we were lucky. The hot water takes a while to come on so leave the taps running. No stand up shower but a shower head and bath were ok. The grounds have ornage trees etc so it all looks nice. Bar area is ok, pool table, table tennis etc and entertainment on some nights with a view from the pool terrace of the beach at Agadir. The apartments are cleaned daily and fresh towels put out. The windows are single glazed so if you're roadside it can be noisy on certain nights. the hotel a couple of streets away seemed to ahve big local music nights on sun and thurs nights so I bought some ear plugs! The bar staff are great and reception are nice enough. There's a cash point outside the hotel and a super market with a grumpy man in a few doors down. Restaurants are plentiful and there's plenty of choice. The beach is about a 10 min walk way. The groundsmen and cleaning staff were all super friendly. checking in was a bit of nightmare as everyone turned up en mass! A safe key costs you about £10 for the week. Pillows were very lumpy! God knows what they stuff them with over there! ;) No tv's in the rooms so take your own entertainment. The bar area had a tv but they only showed football! There's a bar with SKY just down the road for the desperate! We paid about £210 in Feb 2005 - can't fault it. I'd give it a 3* rating. Stairs could be a problem if you're not feeling fit but they offered to re-house us. Had a great trip and scored some great waves, I'd go back.
