What can i say....i went with my partner and we're in our mid 20's and we'd never been to morocco before and we were quite excited about our holiday. When we arrived we were the only airplane in the airport and it was in the middle of no-where! We tried not to let that put us off. On the way to our hotel it was completely barren, i had never seen anything like it, i heard they'd had a bomb attack some many years ago and frankly it looked like it hit last week coz everything was destroyed, yet people were still living within the rubble. We found some civilisation and where our hotel was. From the outside we thought...great!! looks really nice. Reception staff were helpful and our bags were carried straight to our room..we were on the top floor! lovely big room with a fab view over the beach, everything seemed ok until we wanted a safe to keep our passports and money. Our swipe card we were given didnt work and in total we had to wait 2 hours for a maintenance guy to come and sort it out which meant we couldnt leave our room. Then all the water was cut off in the hotel so couldnt flush the toilet or anything! We thought it was down to the flood that was along the hallway, huge big puddle. Because we were half board we got to experience moroccan food....or rather german food! we stayed for a week and the food was all the same, nothing moroccan either! everything was catered for the germans and to make things worse you had to pay for your drinks! they weren't included. Another pet hate was trying to get a sunbed....basically you couldnt unless you were up at 6am as the german took the lot! so all you ended up with was grass. The hotel seemed to be full of moroccan's and german, there was about 5 other british couples there and all of them had the same experience as us. The so-called hussle and bussle was NOT 200m away, all there was was a few restaurants and little shops, nothing much else. We went out a few time but felt so intimidated by the locals we ended up staying in our room. I dont want to totally put you off the hotel and area but i shall just quickly mention we had a half hour total power cut and the air conditioning did NOT work! The good points: you must visit the suk, amazing market to go to. find all sorts of bargains and def have a local tour guide coz they are sooo helpful. We got ours to take us on an island tour so practically no money! The marrakesh trip i would advice not to do, spend half your time on a coach on what they call roads!! The cleaners in the hotel were fantastic, cleaned the room everyday and were very friendly. Had 3 pools so it was never crowded, although they weren't heated so you had to jump in! The beach was about 5 minutes walk away but again we went there and felt too intimidated by the locals; got some horrid looks! They had entertainment throughout the day which personally drove me mad because i was there to relax but if you like that sort of thing its good. Overall i was discusted with the whole holiday, our rep was fantastic and was really helpful but nothing could cover the fact that it is not an up-and-coming place to visit and the hotel was a nightmare! would not recommend at all.

After reading some of the reviews on here we were a little wary of what to expect especially never having been to Morocco before. However it far exceeded our expectations and we had a fabulous week. The weather was great, the hotel was very good, staff very nice, food was very acceptable and I would have no hesitation in going back again. One little tip though, DONT TAKE TRAVELLERS CHEQUES! They are not worth the paper they are written on and we spent all Monday morning trying to find a bank that would accept them. Take sterling ane change it at the hotel with no problem or fee involved.

Might have once been a 4-star hotel...but it's been a long while!! It's location to the tourist area of town is OK, as is it's distance to the beach. While the check-in/1st floor common areas are nice enough, the rest of the hotel is sorely in need of restoration. Room furnishings are worn-out and the AC was in the same boat, but opening a hall window while the balcony and room door were opened (we were located on the sea front of the hotel) quickly refreshed the room's air. No pool towel service. Bring your own or the room towel. Let the maid know that you are so that she leaves another clean one for you (if you're polite with her and leave a nominal tip). My partner speaks several languages, French amongst them, so there was no communication problem. We treated the hotel staff like "people" and were treated nicely in return. The dining foom staff in particuar were great. While the food selection tended to be much the same and not always to our liking, these people went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I'm not a big fish eater...and one night when that was pretty much all that was on their buffet selection...after a word from my partner I had a nice bit of lamb and side dishes. With the food selection as it was we opted to eat out a couple nights, including our last. On our way out for dinner that last night we stopped by the restauraunt to leave a nominal trip for our favorite servers; they had a table awaiting us and seemed genuinely sad that we weren't spending our last night there. Overall we had a good time. It it Morocco so you do have the people "in your face" trying to ply their wares...but it's part of their culture and they're just trying to make a living. Haggle your heart out! It's fun, expected, and they'll respect you more if you drive a hard bargain, but if you haggle...buy if they give you your price...otherwise you're being rude and just wasting their time. Yes, I'd go to Morocco again...but next time it will be Marakech.

I stayed here for 8 days in july and was not really impressed. Whilst I think the hotel caters well for young families in terms of providing entertainment both during the day and the evening for a young couple on their first holday it was less than great. HOWEVER, upon check-in our reservation could not be found, and once they created the reservation we were asked to pay for the full accomodation amount - which we had already pre-paid in england. Having spent over an hour sorting this out we then went up to the room to find the tv and air-conditioning not working. We were told that it could not be fixed and could get a room move the next day, however we were only finally given one after 3 days and didn't take it as the room offered was much smaller and with a view of the car park. In retrospect, we didn't pay a great deal for this hotel, and it was kind of ok, but i certainly wouldn't go back. Also, in terms of food, the restaurant is expensive and not worth it. If you want something different and cheap, grab a taxi and go to the fishing port. The 'restaurants' are very shack like, the menu comes as a platter of raw fish from which u choose what you want, and the end result is a selection of beautifully fresh and delcious fish!

I stayed in this hotel for a week during june, rooms were clean, i booked a standard room and i got a free upgrade at the reception, the hotel staff were lovely, i got complimentary upgrade just by asking for it, i was on half board, the food was ok, we enjoyed moroccan cuisine, they charged us for the drinks in the restaurant but that was never included in the half board, around the swiming poolwhich is ok, there is an animation team,. i think this hotel deserve to be a 3 stars delux. i enjoyed my stay in this hotel

We sayed at the Anezi hotel for a week and it was a week too long!! Starting with the positives the hotel was clean and the rooms were nice with nice views. Now for the negatives. When we arrived at the hotel we noticed that the air conditioning didn't seem to be working when we asked at reception they simply replied 'we have turned it off' when asked why they laughed and said it is not hot enough. At 32 degrees this made for very uncomfortable nights. Our room wasn't cleaned when we arrived and we were still shown in. The maids don't knock and they take the towels at 9am and don't replace them until the afternoon because they apparently only have one set of towels!!! The pool was overcrowded and had a nasty concrete surround. During our whole weeks stay we didn't manage to get a sunbed as people were up before 7am to put their towels out (the hotel said that this wasn't accepted but never did anything about it). The staff (apart from the entertainment staff) were all rude and looked at you like you had crawled out of a stone!! Breakfast was OK but not great. Generally you may enjoy this hotel if you like large, noisy hotels with rude unhelpful staff. As for Agadir - its not much better. Stay in Marrakech which is much nicer and more Moroccan!

Overall this hotel is basic not really 3 star hotel likely 2+ and i would not reccomment it even though the location was fine and quite close to the sea. The staff were friendly and a bit ignarant sometimes, service in general was not bad apart of the days when the maid were in your room without knocking or cleaned the roon in the afternoon when u already came back from outside. The Hotel was clean and well kept. The food was terrible in the mornings but for the dinner is was much better, the only surprising thing was that the tea was not surved during the day just for breakfast (and even then with a strange taste) all drinks are extra to the food on the Half Board and when u want to pay it in the reception(cashier) u have waist because the staff is always busy with something and completely ignore you. Overall this hotel is basic but a really good 3 star hotel which personally i would much prefer to a bad 5 star hotel. Am usually put off by 10 storey hotels but we found it great when venturing out in town and getting lost-we could see our hotel for miles around!! The staff were really friendly and despite the hotel being furnished in the mid 1970's with a budget of a tenner, it was very clean. A couple of hints-do bed and breakfast rather than half board-lots of places to eat in town that have more variety and are better value. Also, keep tabs on how much you spend on your hotel card and keep your receipts...this can really add up at the end!! We noticed a few mistakes which the friendly hotel staff were happy to rectify. Me and a female friend went here in May and i would recommend the resort a little off peak season as peak season would be ridiculously hot and busy. Being 2 young women we found the male attention far too much for the first few days i.e. following you, shouting at you and trying to hold your hand (at best) -it can be really intimidating. Even though you may feel rude you have to just ignore it-don't say hello and don't even make eye contact. If you do, you cannot get rid of some of them. Maybe a good idea not to dress too provocatively though to be honest, it doesn't make a huge amount of difference. Would definitely recommend this hotel-just don't go expecting the ritz and you won't be disappointed.

The mixed reviews for this hotel may suggest you should avoid but our view was that everything considered the hotel provides value for money and the rating as a *** star is correct. My girlfriend and I went and we are in our early 30's. Here is a run down of the facilities: Food - we went half board and althogh the food is ok we ate in the hotel about half of the 7 nights. This was for two reasons i) the choice isnt extensive enough and can be repetitive, ii) its very cheap to eat out so alternating is the obvious thing to do. The menu changed part way through our stay which was very welcome as the traditional Moroccan dish of Chicken Tajine with various accompanying vegetable options didnt overly appeal. Do what we did and you'll be fine. Room - basic but functional, our aircon was fine, bathroom aging but fine, chamber maid very friendly although didnt speak English but good way to practice your French (even if its just the odd word) which they appreciate. Towels and bed changed daily. Only prob with room was pation door was a nightmare to open/close. Staff - generally very polite and attentive including the entertainment staff (Animation Team). Service - generally fine. We were warned by a fellow British guest that they wouldnt take the new £20 note at the bureau de change at reception - although the bureau (receptionist using a different counter area) asked if we would swap our old £20's for his new ones. When we said no because we heard we wouldnt be able to change them later, he shrugged as if that wasnt the case. We later witnessed the bureau refusing the new note so beware. Resort - Ok for a short break, you can enjoy the weather, take an excursion and just relax in your hotel's pool area. We would recommend the latter as the beach means being constantly hassled by locals selling you anything and everything. Best for a chill out as not much to do, a Muslim country means there is no lively night scene at all in Agadir. Excursions - we went to Tiout and Taroudant on a day trip, the first a village built on an oasis the second a small town (named little Marrakech). Ok but be very wary of beggers, locals etc as its a very poor country. Worth going though, but we went on a trip with a tour guide so walking thru the souk (market) in the town we felt much safer than we would otherwise. Summary - we found the holiday and resort as a whole fine. But wouldnt go back purely because there are so many other places to visit in the world. If you want a cheap, relaxing break - this could be for you but avoid the beach. The hotel is fine but if you want a little more luxury - there are better equipped hotels 1/2 mile + further along the coast (Agadir Beach Club, Amadil Beach, Sofitel) but you have to pay accordingly.

Negatives first; the anezi was very noisy. Like another couple said the water pipes were very loud, and often woke us up, which we didnt mind as it got us in the sun! We were B&B and the breakfast tended to be a bit too repetitive, and offering weird foods such as onions and carrots for breakfast!!! However they did do normal things like eggs, cereal, toast and teas/coffees etc. so it wasnt all bad! Positives, the hotel staff were very efficient in dealing with our problems as we called them out three times and all three times they were extremely efficient in getting them sorted. Another positive was that with the sunbeds you get a free mattress, so its all nice and comfy for lying in the sun to catch up on sleep you may have lost! Also the security around the hotel was pretty good with guards at all the entrances. The pool side bar was very easy to use, offering a fairly easy way of just using your room card key to pay for things and settling the bill at the end of the holiday. Which meant we didnt have to carry cash around with us all the time. The cleanliness of the hotel was very good, although i disagree with the maid taking the towels away in the morning and not bringing them back to late afternoon to get them cleaned, perhaps they could have more towels! The staff were friendly, and eager to please, even more so when a tip is on the cards, but I guess thats to be expected. Overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone, at least based on my experiences here.

We have just returned from our holiday in the Anezi hotel. First impressions of this hotel were great. It has security on every door and the reception area as you walk in are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious with a little balcony. However the plumbing work if very noisy. If someone flushes the loo or takes a shower anywear around your floor it seamed, you will hear it. We didn't get much sleep because of this. Also we were on the first floor and the lock to our balcony door didn't work, which we immediatly told reception and our rep. They said they would send someone to fix it, but they never turned up!! The hotel is in a great location, right in the centre of agadir. There are steps that take you down to the beach. The staff around the pool area and the bars are very friendly and helpful, also the animation team, who try their best to get you involved in their games of darts, football...etc. We were B&B and were so glad that we were. The breakfast was ok. They have fried eggs and omletts, dougnuts, corn flakes, and bread rolls. The dinner was awfull, we ate in the hotel only once, the meat i didn't want to eat, we asked what the fish was and he said that it was all different mixed together! They served pigs hooves! The rest was salad and couscous which was fine. We found some great restauants. Le Nil Bleu was our favrouite, by the beach. We had 3 courses, wine and beer and it came to 420dh, about £25 for us both. It's 16dh to the £1. The food by the pool bar in the afternoon is really nice though, resonably priced, and it is nice to get out of the sun for 30mins. If they don't have any tables in the shade, ask the guys and they will find you a parasole. We took the day trip to Marrakech, the reps charged 740dh each for the day trip, but we booked with the groups outside for 250dh each. The difference was that we went on a little minibus of 16 people and the others go on nice air conditioned coaches, but if you are up for an adventure this way was much more fun! We are a couple of 20years old, so didn't mind a bit of discomfort. They tell you it take 3 1/2 hours but i took us 5. Also with the other tour they give you longer in Marrakech. We left at 6:30am and arrived at 11:30am. They took us to the market, palace, herbal remedy places, and a few other little sights. We left Marrakech at 4:30 and arrived home at 10:00pm, beacuse our driver wanted to stop for dinner and left us on the minibus!!! We enjoyed it beacuse it was a bit more fun than going on the coach, and we only wanted a quick look round Marrakech. If you want a longer more in depth tour, book with your rep. Well worth doing it though. Overall Agadir is a great country to relax and see a totally different culture to ours. I would reccomend the Anezi but please be aware that it is very noisy, so take good ear plugs!

stayed here from Feb 23rd for 7 nights and in our opinion the hotel was very good the rooms were adequate,reception good.the only drawbacks were A) the food was geared towards French and Germans and after 3 nights of virtually the same we decided to eat out we can not say the food was poor just not to our liking. we are not your typical Brits who only like chips etc but it would be nice to have the odd English styled meal breakfasts were ok but do not expect anything apart from eggs that at all resemble English,we base this on Tunisia where the selection is far better.you will not get ice cream etc in fact the only cakes etc are repeated nightly. the staff in the restaurant are very good especially if you tip them in fact you get far better service in all areas if you tip regular (we didn`t) we tipped at the end of the week and only the pool attendant the piano bar waiters and the maid got a tip because they where excellent without bribary. B) the pool bar food and service were apalling C)entertainment was poor. On the plus side agadir is excellent the weather was excellent and we will certainly be going back but not to this hotel. the hotel overlooks the whole town and you get excellent sea views, if you can get self catering here i would definately recomend it just not half board etc,we checked a lot of the hotels whilst here and on looks (we got brochures and looked around them) the best appear to be the sofitel,riu tikida beach ,founty beach and kenzi europa. out and about morocco is very safe to walk around at any time and you do not get the sort of hassle that you do in tunisia you do get a lot of beggers though so be ware. once morocco wakes up to the fact that you get a lot of british holiday makers i think the food will improve in the hotels

We read the reviews of this hotel after we had booked so we were expecting it to be dire. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The food was good, the service excellent. We are planning to return in september. In one of the reviews someone said that they couldn't get a fridge in their room, we asked upon arrival and got one on the same day. We also requested to be moved from the 9th floor and were moved the following day to the 4th with a better view from the balcony and the most enormous bed. A little man was also sent to help us move and to bring our fridge, in fact we weren't allowed to carry anything at all. I cannot praise the staff of this hotel enough, they were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Before we left we asked about their self-catering apartments and Rachid from the reception desk got the keys and showed the apartments to us. As I said nothing was too much trouble. Just for the record we are not a pair of dolly-birds nor pensioners just an ordinary 50ish couple. Give it a try..

Can't believe all of the bad reviews for this hotel !!! Me and my mum have been to Morocco twice, once in Jan 06 and again in Jun 06. It is a little dated and could do with a refurb but it is extremely clean and the food is beautiful (i came back glowing and feeling so healthy as all food is well prepared and really fresh) The staff are great and we made some lovely friends. We enjoyed it so much we are taking my niece with us this time when we return in March! So if you like a bit of culture and aren't the typical "BRITS ABROAD" you will love Morocco!! May i also recommend the trips to Marrakech & Essouria and the boat trip to catch your own lunch!!! As well as the Berber Night. All were great experiences!! A+++ Hotel, Resort, Country !!! x

I enjoyed my stay at Anezi Hotel - courteous staff, a fabulous varied buffet breakfast and dinner, nice sea view room with TV and elegant surroundings. Overall great value for money - especially compared with Spain - and the weather in january was warm and sunny. Tennis courts were free to use. The pool is only heated overnight so its slightly warmer first thing in the morning. My only gripe is that the bottled water in the hotel is £1 a bottle (3x normal) and only 1 evening entertainment was offered - a Berber meal at £5 extra. The bar was pretty dead - with poor service and horrible cappucino - but with a 50" plasma tv! Well recommended for a relaxing stay.

Quite a few bad reviews for this hotel were posted after I had booked so I was a little nervous about my holiday. As it happened I needn't have been I had a great time. I travel solo and often get dreadful rooms and this did not happen here I got a nice room with a great view. Yes the room (and the hotel) could do with a refurb but it is clean and in good repair - just a little tired. Several people have complained about the food - the food is great but it isn't English food - if you want that go to Blackpool or Benidorm. The service is a little slow but that is the pace of life in Morocco - hey this is a holiday and I can wait a few minutes while they get me a beer. The staff are very friendly and I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. There were two things that did hack me off: 1) You can not spend money at the hotel, all purchases at bars, restaurant, shop, etc. have to be put on your room card - I do not like this and many other guests didn't. It also makes it difficult to invite guests from other hotels back (unless you are prepared to pay for all the drinks). 2) The Animation team were useless. Very amateur and seemed to spend most of their time with each other. Panorama bar on 10th floor has stunning views of Agadir but is desperately in need of redecoration. So if you have booked to go to the Anezi and understand that this is a different culture and you won't get English food I think that you will have a lovely time. Recommend the 2 day trip to Marakech with the dinner in the Dar Es Salaam almost worth the trip on its own. The Berber Banquet was a laugh and the Welcome tour OK - catch and cruise was rubbish

Take heed of these reviews if you should happen to read them....we actually read them before we booked and chose to ignore at our peril!! How to describe the Anezi - think Fawlty Towers/Hi-De-Hi.........we did our research, decided this looked like the best of a bad bunch.. unbeknown to us this place really was everything the reviews said. I could go on and on listing the many things that are wrong with it - but here are a few highlights:- - Checking into the hotel without a single person deigning to speak to us or acknowledge us ... other than to thrust a room key at us - The food...............if you have to stay there for whatever reason...just don't eat there - The staff - mostly rude, ignorant and objectionable....or believing they are something akin to Julio Iglesias (slightly closer to Borat in actual fact) - If you really want to amuse yourselves ensure you book an appointment to complain about something/everything with one of the Managers......after 3 such meetings with a man who shall only remain nameless as otherwise this review won't get on the website, we were literally hysterical with laughter........Irish, drunk, incompetent and incapable of remembering any of your previous conversations with him or indeed what customer service actually stands for - The 'Animator' crew whose job it was to entertain guests around the pool area. Entertainment consisted of the 'Hotel Dance' at 12 noon everyday (hysterical for all the wrong reasons), Crazy Golf (a hole in a short metal plank) and 'Catching the Ping Pong Ball in the Coffee Cup Game' (no really - again, hysterical for all the wrong reasons!) So - our advice. Book yourselves into the Sofitel and go for it.....superb hotel, fantastic surroundings, superb service and superb food! And for those that are after some nightlife they have the only club worth going to in Agadir (if you don't mind the fact that this is where all the rich Moroccan men go to with prostitutes!).

My daughter and I have just returned from The Anezi Hotel, we had a lovely time, the hotel rooms were a little worn but more than adequate, They were roomy and the facilities were good with a safety deposit box in the room and air conditioning, Tthere were some marks on the carpet but the room was freshly hoovered on arrival and again during our 7 day stay. The staff especially bar staff, waiters, snack bar staff were helpful and polite. Initally they seemed a little nervous as in the main they spoke French, My daughter and I do not speak French but this was not a problem and any misunderstandings were sorted out amicably A new manager has recently been appointed to the hotel and he seemed to be making considerable changes he asked if we had any requirements and took these on board. The animation team were friendly but their organisational skills left something to be desired, they did not mange to organise any activities around the pool. I would not recommend the Saturday night show which was presented by the team as this consisted of several mimed sketches which were derogatory to fat people, tall people, small people and gay men. The show also included some break dancing and a song, the words of which they had forgotten. To be honest it was so STRANGE it was funny. There is other entertainment close by and it's a short walk to the beach. The location of the hotel is excellent. As it is the only hotel of 10 stories high you will always be able to find it. Public areas of the hotel were clean and well presented. There was a reasonable choice of food and the dining room opened at 5-30 in the morning and between 1900 to 2200 which allowed one to have a meals in the hotel, before and after excursions, that was good. GENERALLY GOOD VALUE

The photos of Hotel Anesi give an impression of a well maintained, friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Sadly this hotel falls short on all accounts. Service? What service? At dinner I requested a drink only to be laughed at by the waiter who then proceeded to walk away (leaving me stunned). I asked several more waiters (who were talking to each other at the time) and they all ignored me. When I asked who was in charge (and I use the word "in-charge" losely) I was told "sorry dont make trouble for me we are busy". I thereby pointed to 4 waiters who were leaning on a table idle chatting. It took over 35 minutes to recieve a single drink. The rooms were so outdated that even the sheets had holes in them. The carpets were threadbare, but at least they were so stained we didnt have to worry about spilling any food on them. The hotel did have a good view of the local mountain and at night you can clearly see the well-lit sign proclaiming "1 god, 1 country 1 people?", however this view also encompasses large scale construction (hardly picturesque). During our last day we were told that we could use the hotel gym (a few benches and a kick bag) for showering. While I used the shower my girlfriend was "escorted" re: manhandled by one of the security staff out of the gym area because he believed that you couldnt use the showers. The man-handling of my girlfriend I found utterly unacceptable. During my morning meetings with fellow guests I began to notice something I have never witnessed before. Guests were cancelling extended holidays. Yes guests were reducing there holiday from 2 weeks to one because they were unimpressed with the hotel, the terrible service and the resort. If this hotel isnt enough to put you off going to Agadir, let me recount a few of my lowlights. 1 - Constantly being hounded by anyone who considered themselves knowledgable about the area. Anyone asking to show you something remember this golden rule - THEY WANT MONEY! And if you dont give them any prepared to be grabbed and a heated argument to develop. 2 - Walking into the sea to see used diapers floating in the ocean. Yes, the dirtiest place ive ever been to in europe. The water is so dirty that I didnt want to put my head under. 3 - Fighting. In my first day I saw two fights, 1 on the way to a local souk, and then 1 on the beach. Apparently two locals fought over a the younger one having s** infront of her children. Im not kidding. 4 - Scams. You get the feeling that everyone is trying to scam you here and guess what - they are! I parked a rental car at a free parking place. During my parking I was "waved in" by a local man. I got out of the car and walked directly to this man (I was used to scammers by now) and I asked him a simple question. "do you have to pay to park here". No he proclaimed. I asked it again. "so its free all day to park right?" Yes again he replied. When i returned later he was still there. As i got into my car he walked behind me and waved me out. Bear in mind I have been driving for 15 years and im sure i know how to use reverse... So then he walks to my window and proclaims "100!!!". I start to move away disgusted at teh thought of more scammers and he promptly starting hitting the roof screaming out "100 100 100". Chose your hotel well in Agadir as you will quickly lose interest in leaving it. The resort is a cultural wasteland. The amenities are poor, the cleanliness is non-existant, and there is even a mcdonalds located directly on the beach. This is definately along way from the morocco I had visioned.

the hotel was reasonable, the staff would be very helpful as long as there were no locals or french around to be served first. hotel was kept clean though rooms could do with updating and the air conditioning was never on. brochure said room had a fridge, not until we arrived were we told we had to pay for it. it was very difficult to cash travellers cheques and we often had to visit other hotels and ask them to cash them for us. the breakfast was the same everyday and you had to be prepared to queue. the evening meals were not to our taste as veals trotters are not our thing, we ate out on a couple of occasions. beware of excursions as the two we were on were contracted out to a local compant even thought we had booked through thomas cook. though the hotel was ok for a short stay where the area surrounding the hotel is dirty with a dangerously busy road that took us 15 mins to cross and swarming with beggars.

Hotel The hotel is an impressive white building from the outside. It is easily recognised wherever you are out and about in Agadir due to the height. Hotel kept very clean and the cleaners worked very hard throughout the day. The hotel could do with refurbishment has it is looking tired. (Some books state 3 stars some state 4 definite not a 4 star more like 2/3) STAFF - RECEPTION Read previous reviews, as they are correct - most staff on reception including manager are very rude to the British but if you are French or can speak French you will be okay. They listen to your requests then state later or tomorrow and it goes on and on, you keep coming back day after day asking where are the fridges we had requested on our booking forms? but always LATER OR TOMORROW AFTER 10 AM. My friend became ill and I asked coule we please have the fridge as she was only drinking water and it was warm they still did not give us one. The lady on recption who dealt with the change was nice. MAID Our maid ensured our room was kept spotlessly clean. MARTE DE (Black Uniform) He was excellent - always spoke and said hello and when my friend had gastroenteritis he helped by getting me ice cubes as the water was warm as we still did not have fridge. WAITERS IN DINING AREA All excellent - we had really good service. WAITERS IN PIANO BAR AND ROOF GARDEN These waiters in here are a JOKE there would be at least 3 - 4 waiters and it would take ages to receive your drinks once ordered. My coffee one day was sitting on bar for 5 minutes before they brought it with beers. At one time in the rooftop bar I ordered some drinks they took my card and I sat down and waited and waited until finally I got up to see what the hold up was as I was the first person to order, the barman had served other people and was now serving a French person at the bar and had not even started doing my drinks. I told him to forget the order and double checked that I had not been charged with reception as I did not sign the bill (you sign when drinks arrive). All was fine and I had not been charged but 2 days later when I went to pay my bill for the last 2 days the charge was on there and again I was told come back tomorrow or later after 10 am this went on until my last day and I had to get the rep to make sure it was removed. CLEANERS They all seemed to work hard, my only concern was that they wet the floor in the lobby so much that someone could have had a nasty accident. At other hotels the lobby areas were cleaned early in the morning (2 am - 7 am), they were mopping the lobby areas at 8 - 9 am in the morning) ROOMS Booked two rooms together with fridges, received two rooms on different floors (nine and four) with no fridges, safe in room 9 was broken with door hanging off the hinges. The air conditioning in this hotel is a JOKE, it is better to open your patio door if on higher floors as no matter who we spoke to no one had air conditoning that really worked in their room. If I had known this I would have booked the Hotel Kamal which does not have air conditioning and much cheaper. Beware that on leaving your patio door open the smell from the fishermen brining back their fish is disgusting first thing in the morning. My bedside lamp was faulty and it kept going on and off due to the wiring - reported it day one, not sorted out. Courtesy Room - What is this? Well in every hotel I have ever been in Europe I have had a courtesy room, when I asked at reception about this 3 days before leaving I was informed to come back later that day after 10 am or tomorrow and this went on until the last day when I asked the manager about a courtesy room I was told "I have over .... guests staying here and all my rooms are booked and I do not have one". (The tone he used was condescending). If it was not for the pool maintenance man telling us to use the gym showers we would have had no shower prior to leaving the hotel for the airport which is not good enough for a hotel of this size. TOWLES Towels are taken away in the morning and are not brought back until late afternoon damp. They do not have many bath/hand towels in this hotel. I kept mine the last day to shower and the maid came to me to ask where they were and I had to bring them back to her after I had finished with them so she could launder them and put them back in the room. FOOD As explained earlier in previous reviews, the food for breakfast is adequate, you can have the following: cornflakes (not kellogs - but you don't expect that anyway lol) salad items (lettuce/cucumber/tomatoes/peppers and onions) ham (did not eat it) cheese (did not eat it) fruit salad yoghurt of some sort pastries (dry and boring) bread rolls pancakes (ok - partner ate them) doughuts (not like ours though - partner ate them) juice (not proper orange juice but squash) Eggs - Now this was the best part you could have omeletes or fried but as one previous review stated you got to wait and boy do you wait - 20 minutes one day my friend waited for 3 egg omelete. There was an old man doing the eggs most days, and the queues stretched at least 10 - 12 people waiting and with only one person and 2 small frying pans they need to look at getting more resources or staff - if the ladies cooking doughnuts/pancakes were not busy would not help out. (seems to be each has their own little pan etc) The toaster was a JOKE it took forever, and yes as mentioned earlier it would have been better to put bread out in the sun to toast as it would have been quicker. DINNER As one previous review stated - MINNING I would say absolutely disgusting. The food did not look edible, neither did it taste nice. There was always a pan with couscous with some meat either chicken or pigeon. Vegetables consisted mostly of pumpkin/leeks and potatoes. There was always hot pasta and sauce but very bland and the pizza was disgusting. The desserts were all dry and nothing to write home about. You rarely seen any fruit at dinner, the most you got was melon and one day I noticed oranges but again these were dry and unappetising. I ate the salad for most of the holiday which was pasta and tuna or rice and tuna etc. The chicken and Turkey sometimes did not seem to be cooked as my freind had some that was still pink (not sure if this is what caused her gastroenteritis which she had to have a doctor out twice) The pools are kept very clean by the maintenance man, he is lovely and helped us out no end with our queries etc which the reception staff did not. Always smiling, got our mattresses for us every day and always asked how we were etc. On taking our cases downstairs the manager asked if we had checked out of our room as he wanted to send the cleaners in as apparently they had quite a few guests checking in later that day, as this was only 11.15 am and because of the lack of help with whatever I asked for I make sure that I did not check out until 12.00 midday on the dot. This was the first time that the manager smiled and was actually nice this was because he wanted us out of our room early. POOL As I am an early riser the security had to open the doors to allow me access to get outside to the pool area. (Doors open at 7.00 am). You could not use the pool until about 9.00 am. Other Holiday People We chatted to a lot of the people at the hotel and most had the same opinions as myself as regards to staff and food etc. We stayed at this hotel from 27 August - 10 September, on the 7 September seen the arrival of the under 19 boys International Boxing Championship, this completely changed the hotel as most of these boys were like savages when it came to the food. Salad got spilt into the jams, bread was picked up and smelt then put back down, bowls and plates were filled so high that you constantly had food dropped onto the floor. As some holiday makers said it is like a plague of locus been at the food. If I had just arrived at this hotel I would have demanded to be moved. They not only took over the dinning room they roped off some areas where only they could go. The queues for food in the dining room were even longer as instead of staggered holiday makers coming into eat you had all of them practically at the same time dining. I spoke to my rep on the last day and complained about this, I was told that they did not know they were booked in. Surely this is untrue as the volume of boys they would have had to have made a block booking well in advance. MARRAKECH We went to Marrakech for 3 days 2 nights and the hotel we stayed in was a four star and it was beautiful the staff, the food and the rooms were superb. We were only there for bed and breakfast but the quality of the food was entirely different. Our room had air conditioning that worked brilliant and had a lovely fridge which kept our water and beer extremely cold. Perhaps you are now wondering why I choose the Anezi Hotel after reading the reviews. We went with friends who had a certain budget and although certain waiter staff in and the dinner let this hotel down. The cleanliness of a hotel is what I was mostly after and for this I could not fault them. Would I recommend this hotel - No Would I come back to this hotel - No Would I come back to Morocco - Yes There is a restaurant which is part of this hotel (have to pay) which is across the road and down some steps. The staff and the food was excellent. I am not sure but whenever we went there were never many people here despite the view and the quality of the food. The hotel is a fantastic place to stay. All the staff are really friendly, make a huge effort to speak English although they do appreciate it if you speak basic French. The food is fantastic, eggs are cooked to order at breakfast, traditional Moroccan Fayre for dinner with about three million different kinds of salads all of which are lovely. The entertainment team are really nice, but can be a bit sleazy with the ladies. Hilarious evening entertainment in the bar, and a beer costs just over a pound. Terrific! Bedrooms are imaculate, house keeping really thorough. There's a sign saying please don't bring food or drink in, but we were blatently walking in with bags of shopping, even take out pizzas and no-one really batted an eye lid. Definately going to return, never experienced such fantastic service, it's truly amazing. I don't know what everyone's on about when they said it's bad!

My husband and I have just returned from a week long stay at the Anezi and were very pleasantly surprised. We booked a last minute get-away so were unsure what to expect, reading these reviews helped us a great deal so thought we'd return the favour. When we arrived as part of a large-ish group we were checked in quickly and bags were brought up very soon too. The room was great, 2 big comfy clean beds, furniture was fine, bathroom was spotless as was the whole room. TV had 2 English channels, a news channel and 24hr movie channel. Lovely view from our balcony which also had two outside chairs. The food was fine - there was a large continental breakfast & omelettes freshly made and dinner was a good selection of pretty decent meals + a salad bar. The staff were overall great, the guys in the bar and the entertainment team were excellent, the waiters in the restaurant were a bit offish. The evening entertainment is a bit limp & pretty repetitive. We had a week of spanish guitair and Mr&Mrs type/ dancing competitions. The rest of the resort isn't much better & things apart from clubs, shut pretty early (pre 1am). it is really near the beach though & there are lots of others places nearby to see & go for a meal. A walk down the main road takes you past all the bars & cafes & there is a good buzz about it. The locals were friendly and not too pushy - really nice people. The pool & barside facilities are brilliant - you'll have a great week away if you go here. One word of advice is negotiate a price in any taxi ride first - it's not unheard of to be charged 5x the proper fare- Good luck!

Heard not so good things about Morocco but thought we would make our own minds up about it. We stayed at hotel Anezi and there is not a bad word to say about it. All the staff were friendly and the room was very clean. The only down side was, you cannot purchase any drinks, crisps, or anything from the shop unless you have your room card... the bottled water was so expensive... anyway we both had a fab time and would definately recommed hotel Anezi.

My daughter and myself were wary about travelling to morocco,as friends had told us we would be hassled all the time and would be unsafe at night.what a great time we had,the hotel staff were very friendly [not just the men]we had no trouble communicating with them as the all spoke some degree of english and put us to shame!we were made to feel very welcome and although there wasn'nt a lot of variety in the evening entertainment we still had fun getting involved after all we were on holiday!We went on the trip to marracech which was a long and tiring journey but well worth it.Our tour guide on the trip was very entertaining and informative and the place itself was amazing well worth a visit.when we went to the beach we did have men chatting to us,but we just started talking to them about football which they loved!the rooms were basic but very clean ,shower was wonderful! the only downside was the weather which was a bit iffy,it was cold at night,but it was january.we enjoyed it so much that we are returning in june,when the weather is warmer!

This is the hotel on most of the advertising blurb as it is the tallest one nearest the beach. Hotel room comfy and bright,brilliant views, did help being on the 9th floor, had read previous reviews and taken plug and tea bags! Good location, easy access to beach, shops...Uni prix shop v.good no need to take all the essentials, they carry most items and at a reasonable price including the touristy things if you don't want to haggle at the souks. Beach very good, clean and safe, lovely scenery, if you choose the trip to Marrakesh be aware it's a 4 hour pull on a fairly basic road, which being the main drag in and out carries a lot of traffic. Back to the hotel: lifts ferocious, one will happily crush you and the other stopped 2 feet below the floor level and gave husband and me an unpleasant few minutes whilst the doors were prised open. Staff seemed to accept this as normal ! Waiters are fairly indifferent and breakfast is a farce....go to the Pub at the bottom of the steps. The toaster is still only half working and would struggle to deal with a family of 2 never mind 500 plus. Overall the holiday was fine for a March getaway..the sun shone and we didn't get eaten by mossies.

I arrived back from the Hotel Anezi in Agadir this morning, after a stay of 7 nights. I went with a friend and booked the holiday on a whim about 36 hours before departure with My Travel, with flight, transfers and on a bed and breakfast basis. Now comes the good part - we only paid £166 each! Because of this, we knew we had to take the rough with the smooth regarding what the hotel would be like. I must admit, it really was a mixed bag of experiences. I could not get to grips with some of the staff, who one minute seemed really friendly and the next minute were scowling. However, the entertainment team were pretty friendly all week. The room was spacious and clean, but did have a stale odour and was very dated. My friend and i felt as if we had been transported back to the 70's. Pity we forgot to pack our platforms! The bathroom was clean, with fresh towels daily, but the sink lacked a plug, leaving a gaping hole into the drains - therefore not the ideal place to stand if you want to put your contact lenses in! There was however a nice view from the balcony of the sea, the hotel pools, and the gardens were well maintained. During our visit the small hotel shop was open but it only stocked papers, cigarettes, crisps, chocolate and the odd bar of soap/shampoo. Breakfast was the same every morning, mainly consisting of bread, cheese, salad and "pink" processed meat and jams. You could have a freshly made omlette, but the queue for this was sometimes too long to be worthwhile. However if you like donuts your in luck - they were freshly made all morning. My friend and I went down for breakfast a little later than usual one morning to find most of the food gone. We realised that this was not due to the hotel under-catering, but more likely due to some of the other guests making up large batches of sandwiches at their table to take out with them for the day (presumably so they don't have to cough up to buy lunch!). I did have a little titter at a couple from Birmingham who managed to stash away 4 huge bread sticks crammed full of meat, cheese and salad under the Mrs's cardigan! Don't you just love people watching?! It is probably better to use the cash machine in the hotel to obtain money (if it is working). You can convert sterling at the hotel reception but we tried on three consecutive days, with no luck as they had ran out of money. On the day we did manage to get money converted we had to queue for quite and while and the chap was extremely bad tempered with me. Another problem we encountered was on the morning of our departure. The hotel reception insisted that we paid our bill at 12.15am, even though we were not due to get our transfer until 6.30pm! Okay, so i have had my moans now! But when all said and done, the hotel is only a few mins from the beach, restaurants and bars and its clean.

Allthough the location is excellent, cold rooms and terrible service made the stay uncomfortable. Expect at least one and a half hours for the hotel to come up with an extra towel (even if you don't have any), and expect them to yell at you when THEY misplace your key.

I'm sure none of these people stayed at the same hotel as us! We transferred from the Al Moggar as it was unclean and on the far side of town. Nothing was any trouble for the staff who we found to be very friendly and helpful, always had a smile and spoke good English. Yes there were a lot of French at the hotel, but then there are a lot of French everywhere in Morocco. The hotel offers those staying half board the option to swap evening meal for a set 3 course lunch, which we thought was excellent as we prefer to eat out and try different restaurants at night. Lunch consisted of salads, which varied each day, then chips with either kebab, chicken breast or fish, and either ice cream, fruit or pastries for dessert. The menu is set but if you ask they will change if for you, for example my partner doesn't eat fish and it was no problem to have chicken instead. Breakfast was also good, although the choice of cereals was limited to cornflakes. We never ate our evening meal in the hotel but chose many of the excellent resort restaurants (try Johara for traditional Moroccan). Our room was tastefully decorated (if the furniture was a little outdated), maid service everyday, the room was kept spotless and the bathroom was very clean. The view from our 9th floor balcony was fantastic and we only needed to use the aircon once (which was ok considering it's free). We tried to keep the curtains closed during the day as they have blackout material on the back (good for a lie in!!) which helped to keep the sun out and the room cool. Yes there was limited poolside activity and entertainment in the bar was restricted to a key board player and a snake charmer, but if you want to eat in your hotel every night and be entertained, with no foreign tourists, then you're probably better off all-inclusive at some out of town resort with no culture, occupied solely by english tourists. Oh, and we didn't have a plug in our sink either, but neither did anyone else. The rep made a joke saying she thinks there is a 'Moroccan plug shortage' as she has the same issue with most of the hotels, so we used the bath to wash our things. No big deal.

Hotel location is excellent - convenient to beautiful beaches, restaurants/tourist areas and downtown. It looks lovely from outside, and is the tallest in Agadir so easy to locate after sightseeing or shopping. The room had a good view from the balcony. We could see pool, beach, & downtown. This went some way in making up for the room itself, which was furnished in charity shop style. The air con was only passable, and only operated when the room was occupied (room key required). The 2 tennis courts were well maintained, but the gym was tiny and poorly equipped. There was no refrigerator, and this was a major problem in a hot country where you could not drink the water. We were constantly having to buy water and beverages because we were unable to stock up and keep them cold. The bathroom tiling was mouldy, and the shower head was scummy and in poor repair. There was no plug in the hand basin. Looking down the plug hole made us feel ill when brushing our teeth, and made it very difficult to rinse our swimsuits or tennis kit. Two requests at reception produced no results. Towels were collected at 9am, and not replaced with clean ones until 4 or 5pm. We soon learned not to leave both towels for the maid; my husband and I had to share one towel, in order to shower after the beach or tennis. The bed linen was changed mid-week. The replacement sheet was so sour that we could not pull it near our faces. Much of the restaurant crockery was chipped. I was even served a drink in a glass with a jagged piece missing. There was one toaster to service a big crowd at breakfast. Resturant staff ignored the majority while flitting around 1 or 2 tables, which they prepared to perfection, setting out pastries, coffee and even flowers. Obviously big tippers. The rest of us were lucky if we had a napkin and complete set of cutlery. The food was good, but I think it would have become monotonous had we stayed longer than 1 week. The majority of hotel staff were unwelcoming and unhelpful. A notice appeared in reception, rudely stating "It is FORBIDDEN" to bring food or drink into the hotel. There was a depiction of a guest bringing in a basket of food and a bottle of water. Of course we continued to buy water outside the hotel, rather than pay 3 times the price. I suspect the reason for the missing plug for the hand basin was that the hotel wished guests to use and pay for the laundry service at the hotel. Staff definitely had less time for non-French speakers. I observed an Englishman trying to change some currency. The Englishman was turned away by the hotel cashier, who said he had no money. The next person in the queue asked in French and was allowed to exchange his currency. Outside the hotel, we found the majority of locals to be very friendly and helpful, so it is a mystery why Anezi staff were so rude.

The rooms are very small, and most things in the hotel only work part time, not the staff, but things like toilets, water, electricity. The air conditioning does not work if the weather is warm. Big problems with chipped and cracked crockery, probably the cause of tummy bug which seemed to affect everyone in the hotel. Not much fun when the toilets do not work. On the positive side, the gardens are better than most Agadir hotels, and it is not too noisey. We were there three years ago, found it borderline but cheap. This year it was cheap, but well below the line. You will find better in Agadir for the same money.

i went to agadir for 2 weeks half board in july/august with my boyfriend. this hotel looks very nice when you drive up to it, its the tallest in morocco and all whitewashed, with a gorgeous wall fountain outside the main door. unfortunatlely first impressions didn't stay with us for long! the reception staff.. in fact nearly all the staff.. speak french, hardly anyone speaks english or understand english except when they want money off you, then they don't seem to have problems! i had emailed the hotel prior to the holdiay requesting a double bed, room on a high floor, and a fridge, and they had replied confiming this, however reception denied all knowledge of this when we arrived! luckily i had brought a printout of the email with me, and when we eventually managed to speak to the hotel manager the room was sorted out very quickly..he is an old irish guy and very helpful and nice which is a good job really! his name is michael and his room is to the right of the main reception when you walk towards the swimming pool area.. when the door is open it means he's in! go and see him if you have any probs coz you won't have much luck with the hotel staff. alll the staff look constantly miserable, hadly anyone cracked a smile the whole 2 weeks! i really would recommend on swotting up on the old school girl/boy french as you will struggle with out it .. 'me no understand, me no engleesh', etc etc!! the room, once we had it sorted, was lovely, a queen size bed which was SO comfy, and a lovely view of the sea and the pool, as well as the whole of agadir. tv in the room only has 1 english channel, a news one, the rest is french.. the aircon in the room is RUBBISH.. basically a tiny dribble of cool air comes out, they may as well not bother as it dosn't make any difference at all! luckily the evenings are quite cool so it didn't really bother us, but it would be nice to have the choice, i would rather have been able to pay the £3 a day or whatever it is in normal hotels and get fully operational air con!! bathroom nice, with a full power shower! rooms are spotless and cleaned thoroughtly every day with linen and towels changed every day, hotel is spotless at all times with maids cleaning all day long (maids on our floor were very friendly and actually smiled, we rewarded them with a big tip when we left just coz they smiled!!!) there is an old rusty gym in the hotel which you can use as long as you're good at improvising.. there's not much stuff in it! don't bother going for a massage.. it was like having a rub down with suntan lotion. not realxing at all due to the massuers kids running around shrieking and the massage manager shouting at the staff all the time and making them cry!! pool is very nice, very deep, with nice surrounding gardens, but the entertainment is all in french which is no good, evening entertainment all french and aimed towards kids, not much fun either.. a guy with an organ, that was about it! breakfast fab.. eggs cooked to your liking, pastries, pancakes, bread, cheese, cornflakes, salad stuff, no bacon or sausage tho! but evening meals were dodgy.. all very geared towards the french, the only stuff we dared try were chicken and rice, other stuff was weird, tripe etc, we only ate in the hotel a couple of times at night, but if you don't want the evening meal you can eat at lunch by the pool, only a limited menu tho, chicken or fish, with a nice salad to start and fruit or icecream for pudding. i wouldn't go back here, but only coz of the unhelpfulness of the staff, and the very high proportion of french and the way everything was geared towards them. everything you buy in the hotel whether its drinks, food, whatever, is paid for at the end of your stay, they just swipe your room card during the visit, so it could be easy to rack up a big bill if you weren't careful!

We were expecting this hotel and resort to be bad after reading the reviews, but it was cheap and offered winter sun, so we went ahead and booked it anyway. We tried our best to laugh our way through the experience but have to say it was the worst place we have ever visited and undoubtedly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. If you pay anything to stay in this hotel it is too much, you will have a better time at home! Not one person checking out of this hotel was happy, and I cant blame them, it wasnt worthy of any star rating, let alone 4!) Rude, unfriendly, incompetent staff, facilities and rooms that are smelly, dirty, dated and worn, shabby badly run bar and restaurant, filthy inedible food, hilariously embarrassing "entertainment" and should you wish to complain the most bizarre "management team" to deal with (consisting of a drunken old man and a sleezy weirdo!) Please do not stay here, it will ruin your well earned holiday. If you must go to Agadir (though again it is better to stay at home) then pay a bit more and stay at the only quality hotel, The Sofitel (where we ended up spending every day as their facilities were clean and their food edible)

We returned from Marroco refreshed. We used the Anezi hotel because it was central, altough quite a few steps down to the beach front. Our room was fine, it was clean large and had a fantastic view. We dined in the 10th floor restaurant as the downstairs facility was being refurbished. This was a bonus, the views were stunning.The food was varied and plentiful. Wine available at a reasonable cost. Our waiter, Hassan, was fantastic. Generally the staff were helpful, except those who worked on the pool bar. Reception and lounge bar staff were fine. We were happy with our cheap out of season deal and felt we had good value for money

big white hotel at the end of the blvd mohammed v. easy to spot + comfy to stay in. all the staff most helpful. breakfast 5.30 am til 10 am. dinner 7pm till 10pm. yes it seems to shut at 10pm. always seemed to be something happening. keyboard player, snake charmer. beware the lifts which like to eat you (doors shut over a bit rapid) would stay agian no problem.
