It was a v cheap deal, so can't complain too much. BUT do make sure you get into Block B away from the road / discos. Request Block B 1st / 2nd Floor at time of booking and take your email print out confirming all this with you. The reception staff are really rude and you'll need the evidence. Hotel food is ok, and the pub singer entertainment at night is unintentionally hilarious. Agadir is good for a cheap hot getaway, but nothing like the rest of Morocco. Take a day out to Taroudant, about 2hrs cab drive away. Its really cheap to do, and is amazing to see the real Morocco. We actually took a night out from Madina Palace and spent the night at a hotel in Taroudant. Very cheap (we stayed in a decent place for about £20.. pricey by their standards). Overall, it was nice to get some sun, the people are really friendly, but we're going back next year to Marrakesh. Agadir is a bit of a dump.

After spending a wonderful few days in Marrakesh, we took the four hour journey accross country to this hotel. It's reasonably situated and we were tempted by the varied dining options it had available (6 Restaurants). As our room wasn't ready we headed for the bar by the pool to have a bite to eat and a beer. We had a snack but they only had soft drinks on offer. We pondered over which restaurant we'd choose for dinner. Decided on the Mexican. Thought we'd have a drink in the bar before dinner. It was closed. It was Sunday after all so we thought no more of it. Sat down in the Mexican Restaurant and ordered dinner. Asked to see the wine list and it was explained that they don't serve alcoholic drinks. It then dawned on us that something was very wrong. We left the Restaurant and went elsewhere. We went to a outside Restaurant and the waiter explained that the Hotel lost it's drinks licence a few weeks ago. There you have it. A hotel with no atmosphere, nowhere to meet and have a chat with other guests, and not somewhere where we would choose to stay. Although the staff at the Hotel were pleasant and helpful, it isn't really the kind of Hotel where you would want to spend a relaxing holiday. A further word of warning. If travelling by Royal Air Maroc, lock your suitcases with all your valuables in them if you're not allowed hand luggage. (we weren't even allowed bun bags or keys). We were forced to put all our hand luggage in the hold and all three of our bags had items stolen from them en route to Heathrow. Two mobile phones, binoculars and cash. Many people on our flight between Agadir, Casablanca and Heathrow had losses much worse than ourselves.

Having read mixed reviews on this hotel, my partner and I were a little nervous before our holiday. The poor reviews however, we found to be totally unfounded. The rooms were beautiful and very Moroccan in decor. We had a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool area. The facilities were great and the food was fantastic and varied- very good options for myself a vegetarian too. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Most people that we spoke with during our stay were of a a similar view and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return to this resort without a doubt.

if you are expecting a 4 or 5* hotel you may be disappointed in the quality of the rooms. we had a top floor room in block 4 with direct sea view, but overlooking the building work, not pretty but not too intrusive we found - it may get worse as they are building a large Club Med hotel opposite inbetween Al Madina and the beach. We had a massive terrace and dual aspect room so concluded we had one of the better rooms, but the quality of the bathroom fittings especially was appalling, old, rusty, we even had a hole in the bath, the bath water was sometimes brown, the tiled floor was very old and in poor condition, cracked and uneven - the rest of the room just OK but not 5-star or 4-star - depends what you're expecting I guess. The hotel suffers badly in comparison with all the new 4/5 star hotels being built, but does have a certain charm and is excellently located right in the centre of town and just a few minutes stroll from the promenade and beach. The public areas were better standard than the rooms, restaurants were good on the whole and the staff very friendly and helpful as they rely on gratuities to make a decent wage so tip generously if you get good service, which you almost certainly will. Use La Grappa for a quieter, waiter service experience, and the main buffet for choice and convenience, the Mexican also was excellent. Agadir suffers from sea mist sometimes, which was very frustrating a couple of days as we were told it was beautiful sunshine just inland or along the coast, but we had several days of unbroken sunshine to follow a couple of murky days. Agadir itself not attractive generally, with lots of construction and not much to see, but the promenade makes for a pleasant evening stroll and the beach is quite nice, wide and sandy and you can walk for miles.

Not much charm and moorish ambience, but that is hard to find anywhere in Agadir. Nice pool area, good service, large rooms, ok food. We did not have any problems with the hotel, rather with Agadir as a whole.

There seems to be a great variance in views about the hotel. We have just returned from Agadir (on May 21st) and found the hotel to be fine and find some of the derogatory comments in other reviews to be entirely different to our own experience. Yes it is beginning to look a bit tired in places and does have a quaint old-fashioned feel to it; the bar prices are a little high and the bar entertainment ordinary (typically for Agadir though). Also the air con in our room was not very effective. We didn't use the TV or mini-bar. However, the good points outweigh these factors. The food in all the restaurants was much better than we could have expected. Very good choice every night in the main restaurant - hot and cold food. Each night has a theme and the Moroccan night on Tuesdays is absolutely brilliant with traditonal entertainment and food. The breakfasts are very good too with lots of choice - we filled up every day and didn't bother with lunch in such high temperatures. The waiters were falling over themselves to be helpful - we chose to eat on the terrace nearly every night where Abdelmageed was particulary good. We imagine as the season gets busier it may get crowded and the waiters may have to be a little less attentive? The Mexican restaurant should not be missed - we had a superb meal there even on the half-board menu. The poolside is quiet, peaceful and clean - some said the water was cold, but I went in most days and found it okay. We found no nylon sheets or worn towels or dirty rugs or brown bath water - in fact we thought the cleanliness of the room was of a very high standard - and similarly the whole hotel. There are staff everywhere all the time cleaning, plant watering, maintaning the building etc. The building work nearby didn't affect us, but is a bit in-your-face and was noisy a couple of afternoons. However the beach was very pleasant and we would recommend using the hotel's Palm Beach Club which is about 10 minutes walk away. You have to pay a small amount for the beds/ umbrellas, but you have a good bar there, clean toilets and are protected from the many beach salesmen! We would definately go back to this hotel if we were to chose Agadir again - and hearing comments from people we met on trips who were from other hotels, it compared very well. As for Agadir itself - other than the beach we would advise going on trips and getting out of it. Agadir is a good base for Marakesh and the Atlas mountains etc - the weather is likely to be hotter and sunnier inland too. Morocco has a surprise every day (hopefully a nice one!) and is an entirely different culture to the UK and the Spanish resorts.

Certainly not 4*+. Changed room after 1st night. Cleanliness POOR. Food POOR. Never again!

An excellent hotel if you are planning to visit Agadir. Some 300 metres from the beach, but we never went there, choosing to use the pool hotel instead which was fairly quiet in April 2006. We booked a junior suite, which was very spacious and got this for £50 a night. The hotel does a good breakfast, included in this price. The room was very clean and quite well equipped with toiletries, hairdryer, SKY TV, Minibar etc. There is some building work going on across the road but it certainly didn't disturb was - there is a fair bit of building work going on in Agadir. Beware of the location of your hotel, this one is dead central to everything, there are some hotels a good way out form the town (2 miles or so). There is not a lot to do in Agadir for two weeks and while it is a lovely place I am glad we were only there for 5 days.

My husband and I have just returned from the LTI AL MADINA HOTEL AGADIR for our annual Easter holiday. Having read previous trip advisor reviews and also receving notification from the tour opertater two weeks before departure regarding building works near to the hotel I was greatly concerned about this vacation. We had read about the various noise issues in the various blocks. When we arrived we had a room in block one. Side sea view but the direct view was of another hotel but what would you expect in a holiday resort! The hotel room had a balcony but infact the balcony is what you would call a french balcony (you cannot sit outside of your room just look out of the window) The room was very large however it was also very dated, nylon sheets on the beds, old and dirty mats on the floor, dirty bedspreads,old and worn bathroom towels (not what i was expecting from a so called 4 star plus hotel) The bathroom again was very large but the taps were rusty all the tiles dirty the hot water came out of the pipes brown( i usually enjoy having a relaxing bath on holiday but decided on this occasion to give it a miss) and also we had to inform the reception in a morning when wanting a shower to turn the water for the room on has they were saving water consumption!!!!! Air conditioning still waiting for it to work!!!! Conumal areas fantastic, pool area very tranquil all sunbeds etc free. Several bars to chose from but watch out for the over charging we caught them out twice. Food options excellent a la carte, 3 restauarants and a buffet fantastic choice. The English Bar all day and all night TV for all spotrs enthusiats out there. Regratably i became ill whilst out there ,two days in the dirty old bedspread for me probably the brown water from the taps. Other people were also feeling under the weather. MONEY Take just sterling the rate is excellent £15.36 for 1 Dirham. Dont bother with Travellers cheques the rate is very poor no matter what your tour operater advises. Agadir itself will in a few years be like mainland Spain all built up with lots of english bars,english food, etc so go now before that happens but just dont stay in tha LTI AL AL MADINA. We just made the wrong choice of accomodation. Morocconj people very friendly but there favourite phrase there is a market only here 1 day per month would you like to go? I have no doubt they probably get commision from the stall owners for bringing people to their shops. We have been to Tunisia on several occasions and knew that 4 star plus was not going to be the same as europeon standard hotels, however i just expected more that brown hot water and dirty old mats!!! We viewed several rooms alas all the same standard, i could not wait to come home to rainy Britain.

We were quite worried before we went to this hotel because of the mixed reviews but we were pleasantly suprised. We had been to North Africa before and knew what to expect, alot of places are developing, it is not like a European destination and as long as people undertand that, they will be fine. There is a building site near the hotel which can be noisy during the day which we had read about on trip advisor. We phoned up the hotel before we went and asked for rooms away from the building site (we were in the 500's) and we had no problem with noise but we could imagine if your room overlooked it, it could be problematic. The hotel is lovely, the staff are very friendly and the other holiday makers there were great, unlike a previous review suggested. We met up with some other people from other hotels including Odyssey Park and it seemed like we had the best deal. The food is fine, we didn't go expecting wonderful meals because of previous experiences in Africa, but there was always something to eat and the BBQ night in the buffet was the best night. The breakfast spread is also good. The Mexican restuarant is tasty and La Grappa, the italian was a nice change from the Buffet. Went to the English pub a few times for lunch, wasnt too impressed, why do people insist on english pubs abroad??!! The resort of Agadir isn't wonderful and there isn't masses to do, the Souke is worth a visit though. We went on an overnight trip to Marrakech which was a nice change and we got to see some "real" Morocco. I would return to Al Madina Palace but I have the feeling Agadir may be runied by the typical tacky British tourists within the next few years. However, it is worth a visit to see Morocco.

I booked this hotel as a last minute deal and you get what you pay for! I thought the hotel was lovely, although as others have stated it is not a 4* hotel by european standards, but it was clean, and the staff were extremely friendly, but not in your face friendly. Granted there is alot of building work going on in Agadir, but it is an up and coming resort so what do you expect??? the only noise you would have encountered at the hotel, was if you were staying in a room with a balcony (i wasn't and as a light sleeper i slept like a log for the entire week)The hotel is perfect if you just want to chill by the pool and spend a couple of days exploring Marrakech and other cultural places of interest.

AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!! If you have already booked then I would recommend you cancel immediately. The hotel is currently located directly opposite a building site. The noise starts around 7am and there is no respite until 8pm. In fact the noise can be heard not only in the entire hotel, but also along the whole beachfront - there is no escape... The hotel has a nicely laid out pool area and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately though, the hotel is largely occupied by tattooed, lower class, pale skinned northern Europeans of the Anglo-German kind. Our room was located directly in front of the construction site and the main road, which is busy until around 1am. We also had to contend with the English Pub - the din from which went on well into the night. The food in the hotel's 5 restaurants was nothing special. In general I would say give Agadir a miss! We went back to Marrakech after just one night in Agadir, having booked for 5. If you want real culture and relaxation I would definitely avoid. If you want a cheap and cheery beach resort then you are better off going to the Costa del Sol.

We really enjoyed our stay at Al Madina Palace. The rooms were cleaned properly and regularly. All staff we came into contact with, including reception, pool attendents, restaurant and cleaners, were very helpful. Food was excellent in quality and variety. One criticism is the prices in the bar. I would not be surprised to find prices in the hotel above some of the bars in town but you can get a beer along the seafront for about a quarter the price. There was a small amount of work being carried out on the unfinished buildings between the hotel and the sea. The resort is safe with very little hassle and none of it serious.

Having read a few reviews about this hotel after I booked my holiday to Agadir, i did scratch my head a bit - i wondered how it was possible to get such wildly different experiences at the same place. However, having just spent a week there I'm happy to lay peoples fears to rest - this place is absolutely fine as long as you are not expecting Eurpoean standard 5 star (it is Morocco, come on!). Our room was huge (get a junior suite, they're fab) and as clean as a whistle, it looked out onto the sea (via the main street, but the noise was minimal), and the staff were as friendly as can be. On the downside, the food looked a bit ropey, although we only booked B&B so can't really comment - restaurants nearby were great (particularly La Scala and Au Dauphin Bleu). Pool area was great, bar was ok (entertainment more suited to your 60+ crowd but hey!) and the facilities are all great. Without going on all day, as long as your expectation levels aren't sky high this place is just fine as a base to see Agadir and the surrounding area. If you want full on Western luxury, get your hand in your pocket and go somewhere else - with all things, you get what you pay for. This place offers great value for money and I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to stay in a decent hotlel without breaking the bank.

The only reason I went to Morocco was for the nice winter weather and cheap deals. I had very low expectations since the price was so low as well ! I could not imagine a 5 star hotel for less than £50 a night including dinner to be any good. Well, I was wrong. Al Madina Palace is a very nice hotel in Morrocan style. The service is very friendly, the location excellent since it's right next to the beach. The hotel got 2 pools, a gym and beauty centre and a couple of restaurants. There's live music every night (well, not my taste, but better than nothing I guess) and I love the pool. My room was nice, quiet large since I was alone, nice decor, nice terrasse. It was situation with a view on the boulevard, so it was noisy, but since I never got any sleeping problems, I did not bother me a bit. However, for people with sleeping problems, they should request rooms in other blocks . To my surprise, the food was rather good as well. A large buffet for breakfast and dinner with lots of choice - in the morning they make you fresh pancakes and omelettes. Very nice ! Besides this, the good thing about booking half board is that you are not stuck in the hotel. They give you vouchers for a couple of restaurants where you have a choice of set meals, so this is also where you can have your half boad meal instead of the hotel. Just great ! I especially liked the Johara restaurant. Beautiful interiour, great service and food. I was very impressed. I also went to the Mexican one - very big restaurant , nice decor , nice food too (although a bit more simple). The italian one was next to English Pub and was not spectacular, but anyway, what do you want for the price. I don't understand how people could complain about this hotel - first look at the price !! You can never compare a 5star in Europe to a 5star in North Africa. Besides that. 5 stars in Europe you easily pay £200 a night ! So people who complain should not stay in cheaply priced hotels. I have stayed in many top hotels in Europe and not so fussy like some of those in the other reviews perhaps. Also, go for a massage in the hotel - it's only about £8 for a full body massage (they give you discount vouchers at reception) and there's a nice gym with Aerobics classes for a £ 1 . Agadir is not a beautiful place, it's just a boulevard with palm trees, shops, restaurants and bars and local people don't stop bothering you - they try to sell you anything and are a bunch of rats, so be prepared ! (always barter and try to ignore them most of the time, otherwise they try to get your money ! ) The beach is great and the hotel has got a private beach, called Palm Beach, about 3 minute walk to the left. You can rent a sunbed all day long for about £ 0.50 (and yes, even for that the hotel gives you discount vouchers) and you get served fresh drinks if you like. Pure bliss Go ahead, I would recommend the Al Madina Palace hotel if you set the right expecations and have not got much cash to spend. I will certainly go back again for a warm winter break. Enjoy !

Don't believe the doom merchants that have given this hotel a slating - it's not like that at all! We contacted the hotel prior to our holiday as we were so concerned about some of the reports on this website, but all our fears were misplaced. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the bed linen and towels were clean and not threadbare as some have said, the pool area was very relaxing and the accomodation had retained some Moroccan charm (unlike some of the other hotels I could name in this resort!). If you want the quietest part of the hotel, ask to be put in block 5, failing that block 4, otherwise it is likely you will be facing the road. The food is also very good at the wide choice of restaurants available within the hotel complex. Yes, granted, it isn't perfect but then if you want perfection you should pay double and book yourself into a 5 star hotel instead of a 4 star hotel!

A good place to stay, central for the few attractions of Agadir. Our 2 children ages 6 and 4 loved the hotel and the staff were fantastic with them. As a family, we were treated with the utmost courtesy and politeness from all staff from the maids, reception, waiters and the poolside attendants. We were there for Christmas and the food during this period was excellent. Would I return - yes.

The reception and all the staff were excellent, friendly and accomodating. The hotel and pool area had a charming Morrocan character to it plus some lovely green areas, pomegranite trees etc. The food was first class with a huge choice at breakfast and dinner, you could also choose to eat at their other themed restaurants if you wished, we didn't because we found the main restaurant so good. The waiters were also careing and friendly. The room was large and clean although the sea view did look out over a deserted building site as well as the sea. We had one problem with a stuck plug which was fixed immediately, my only complaint would be the towels were well past their best as were some of the fixtures. There was entertainment every night which was usually a singer/keyboard player plus they did a Morrocan night at dinner. The resort was far better than expected from the Lonley Planet guide, with quiet bars and restaurants often with music. I would definately recommend it if you want to escape the usual 'Brits abroad' mob it felt a very safe area plus you got very little hassle from the locals. Another big bonus for us was you could walk along the fantastic beach to the Sousse estuary national park which had a large range of migrating and exotic birds, falamingos, ibis, eagles, etc. The hotel was not 5 star by european standards but then we wern't in europe !! we loved it.

i feel i must warn other travellers this hotel and morocco may not be what you expect. We arrived late at night to be given a room in block 1, this overlooked the busy road outside which was extremely noisey,with locals in cars on motorbikes hooting horns and racing up and down. Plus the noise from nearby nightclubs which was a constant thumping in the room until 5am in the morning. I rang reception and complained, they said yes, we know it is noisey,next morning we eventually managed to change our room to block 5. The staff were not helpful at all, it took all day to sort it out, I did ask to speak to the manager who was never available. The rooms at the hotel were awful, the bathrooms disgusting, mouldy and worn. I was not the only one complaining it seemed most of the guests had a complaint about noise, blocks 1,2,3, all face the main road, block 4 partially sheltered, block 5 was behind block 4 so was quieter. Opposite the hotel are two new hotels being built, fortunately these were not being worked on while we were there or that would have been even worse, The maids only seemed to do the bare minimum required, there was dust on the t.v. and cabinets and drink rings on the furniture. The food was poor quality, the worst we have ever had, the dining room tatty. However the waiters were very pleasant and polite, almost as if they were apologizing for the food. This hotel should not be sold as a 4/5 star because it is not. We will not return to Morocco ever again. I could not wait to fly home.

We were nearly put off the hotel by the October reviews and were delighted to find a beautiful, older-style hotel which is like a little oasis in the midst of Agadir. The lobby area had lovely tiles and beautiful flower arrangements and big brass lamps as did our room. We were fortunate in that we had a high room with a largish balcony and heard no noise from the road although I believe some of the lower rooms are just above the street and could be quite noisy. The hotel grounds are on different levels with beautiful gardens and even a little Monet Bridge with a pool with turtles in. Food is fab, magnificant choice at all meals and if you're not happy with that you can have vouchers to go to the Italian, Moroccan, Mexican or Lebanese Restuarants just outside which I have to say don't compare to the hotel either for atmosphere or food - great singer and musician on an evening. When the sun went down we had booked in for a couple of massage sessions at the Beauty Salon which was very professional and at about £7 for a full body massage seemed a good deal!! If you want a Moroccan- style hotel with character, great service and food you'll love it. If you want a Holiday Inn type hotel with the usual type food etc. don't - you'll hate it. Not great for kids either - even better!!! One downside is the blot on the landscape i.e. the half finsihed building which blocks the sea view but has not been touched for about 2 years as they are in dispute as to whether the building should be there or not. The pluses definately outweigh this. Would definately go back!!

When we first got to the hotel we thought what are all these complaints about! the pool, restaurant & the bedroom looked at a first glance wonderful.The staff very kindly gave us a balcony room, as I requested one at the time of booking.This for us was a terrible mistake,on our first night we started to receive visitors from the unguarded drain outlet on the balcony, it wasn't the fact that we had them as the problem exists all round the world,but they laid dead where we killed them for 8 DAYS, our room was not swept or washed for the same amount of time, to counteract this problem I put a beermat & a ashtray over the drain, we knew that there should have been a guard over it as our next door neighbours had one, in the meantime we both got ill along with many others with the very expected travellers tummy upset, we struggled with this with visits to the local pharmacy got more pills & eventually we were advised by our rep that we needed a Dr who diagnosed a parasite, our prescription between us consisted of 9 medicines 5 of them being antibiotics. When we got ill it makes you start looking around at the hygeine standards in the hotel we were appalled at a particular chef at breakfast who was handling food with his bare hands. The problems that we had with our room was compensated by a gesture from the management of a basket of fruit, biscuits & a bottle of water & a change of chambermaid, by this time we could not accept the fruit or biscuits as the Dr told us not to eat any fruit apart from bananas. The change of chambermaid unfortunately made things worse & as a result we had to call the manager to our room 2 days before we left, the incident was still being investigated as we departed, we were offered a bottle of red red wine as a result of the final incident, again we told them that we could not accept as we were ill. This hotel is a beautiful hotel with a lot of character & charm, the choice of food in the restaurant was vast & beautifully presented, but the cleansiness in our bedroom was apalling, & as a result we will never travel to Morocco again or anyway in Africa. We were very unlucky, needless to say a major complaint is going forward to our tour operator!

was how we found the Al Madina Palace and how we felt on our return home. Our room unfortunately overlooked the sea (!) and led directly onto a very busy road and building site. The saving grace was that no work was carried out on the building site during our stay. The road was busy all day and all night. We thought that a sensible solution would be to keep the windows closed and use the air conditioning, but were told by reception that the air conditioning gets turned off for their winter (the average day temperature during our stay was 30+ degrees!). This made the nights very uncomfortable and we did find it difficult to sleep. We asked to change our room (we had booked a junior suite) but were told there were none available and we did not force the issue (which we regretted). The waiting staff could not have been more helpful and the choice of food for breakfast and evening meals was vast. We tried the Mexican and the Italian (twice) - the food was enjoyable but be warned that if the restaurant is full, they tend to panic, and you can wait until your second course for drinks! In the evenings, the hotel lacked atmosphere and certainly was not conducive to late evenings. This may have been because it is not peak season. We would thoroughly recommend "Le Jardin d'Eau" which is about a five minute walk from the hotel (go out of the rear entrance and turn left). All in all, I would not be able to whole heartedly recommend this hotel although I am sure that if we had had a better room, that would have changed our opinion quite dramatically.

We arrived in this hotel after a four hour transfer from Marrakesh where we had four wonderful nights in a brillant hotel (Le Jardin de la Madina). Even on stepping into the lobby we were disappointed, we were given the registration form and told to sit down and fill it in. No other welcome was forthcoming. When shown to our room my husband immediately said that we would not be stopping in this hotel and not to unpack. The room was dirty, the bathroom floor was covered in water and the view was of a building site. The hotel did show him two other rooms that were no better, one even had occupants. Whilst waiting for our rep to arrive we went for a walk around the rest of the hotel and was no more impressed with the worn and shabby surroundings. We did move hotels after being forced to pay two nights cancellation to the Madina Palace.

The LTI AL Madina Palace hotel was a disappointment as when reading the brochure I expected to find a bit of the luxury only to get faded and tired surroundings. Everything in the hotel was worn including bedding etc. In its time it was probably lovely but it has not been maintained to the standard mentioned in the brochure. Also we could see and hear building works which continued during the day, then noise of the surrouding area, clubs road etc went on to the early hours, we chose this hotel as it was written up as a quiet and relaxing holiday I cannot believe that the brochures I have checked have given it a 4 star plus. Never again!

Spent a week here for our honeymoon this August. Had a great time here. At first glance, it looks like its situated a little way away from all of the other main hotels. However, this is great. It is situated right next to the main road where the local Moroccan's walk at night, so there are some good resturants and eating places. Its also a very easy walk down to the beach. I agree that the cleanliness of the public beaches is a little mixed, however, it is a great place to see local life. There are loads of Moroccan families enjoying themselves & plenty to see, especially at night when everyone heads down to the beach to walk and chat. Just follow the locals, but be sensible, e.g. don't go down to the port at night, and keep your valuables very close to you. There are a few traders who try to get you to purchase things, whether drinks, or jet ski rides, but a firm no thanks and they move on without any hassle. If that bothers you, there are plenty of private beaches, and the hotel has a discount to one if you wish. However, the pool is absolutely fine. Different levels, with a section for the kids. Plenty to join in if you wish from water aerobics to water backetball. Or, you can sit back and enjoy the sun. Tips are part of everyday life in Morocco. People don't get paid very well, so tips can make up a large part of a person's salary. Tip generously, and people will always look after you, whether its a favourite table at the restaurant, or by the pool. However, make sure that you have some Moroccan change at the airport when you land, since the porters often grab your bags off you before you know whats happening, take it to your bus, and then want tipping. They get very upset if you don't tip, even though you didn't want any help in the fgirst place. We didn't have any Moroccan money and had to hand over a £10 note. Ouch. Food wise, the best we experienced was within the hotel itself. Their buffets, especially their themed evenings, e.g. Moroccon night, Fish night, were very good - a real bonus as we were half board. The choices, both of hot and cold selections was excellent, both at dinner and breakfast. The hotel also has some other resturants, Moroccan, Lebanese, Italian, Mexican. We only tried the Lebanese and the Mexican. A disappointment really. Food quality was not comparable to the main hotel. Also, if you are half or full board, they will give you a very limited fixed menu at these a la carte resturants. Don't accept this option which is clearly a cheap option for them. Instead as the hotel allocates a set amount, 150 DH per person at the a la carte resturants, ask instead for the a la carte menu and select from that instead. You can pay extra if you go over the allocated amount. You should take a trip out to the Souk. Incredible place - smells, sights, sounds. Again, take care with your money & be prepared to haggle. Busiest day is Sunday. If haggling is not your thing, try the government run shop, where the prices are fixed. Its also a good place to see the maximum you should be paying as a guide if you do want to go to the souk. Your rep or the hotel can tell you where it is. Its about a 15 minute walk from the hotel so its a nice stroll. The weather can be variable in Agadir because of the winds from the Atlantic coast. We were lucky and only had two poor days. The hotel is lacking on facilities when it rains, so probably not suitable for families. All in all though. A good time had. Standards high, food good, and the service very attentive. Would recommend it.

On the whole a very nice hotel with excellent standards of service demonstrated by the pool team. restaurant staff and hotel receptionists. A definite plus is the excellent standard and choice of food . If you choose to go half board you have excellent alternatives to the main buffet restaurant. These include the on-site waiter service 'La Grappa' Italian restaurant. You can go to this as many times as you wish on your stay and the pasta dishes come in very handy if you have a choosy toddler with you. Also the hotel provides vouchers to be used once at each of 4 other restaurants situated directly at the front of the hotel. These are a Lebanese, Moroccon , Pizzeria and Mexican. Another plus is an extremely pleasant well run pool area. The pool attendants are extremely friendly conjuring up parasols , towels and sunbeds on request no matter what time of day completely eliminating this stresspoint that sometimes occurs at holiday hotels. On your stay at Morocco youll find the pool area is important as the beach although large is very uninviting due to poor maintenance and overuse. From a critical point of view the rooms are fine but look a bit a bit tatty in places particularly the bathrooms. Not all rooms have a balcony. Our allocated room did not but when we 'asked' for one with they quickly found us one that did. The hotel is quiet at night and there is very little evening entertainment in the hotel as most seem to venture into the 'town' . While we found Agadir itself a little dissappointing this hotel was however excellent .

This hotel is amazing. Will definately go back. The staff are so friendly and the food is good. Drink prices in the hotel are a bit steep, but all in all, it is brilliant. Highly recommended!!!!

Loved the Al Madina Palace Hotel (stayed there in June 2002). Although the hotel looked awful on the outside when we arrived from our transfer from the airport , once you step into the lobby the atmosphere changes completely: - Lobby, rooms and restaurants look great and are kept very clean. - The personnel is extremely professional and friendly: at the reception, at the pool and in the restaurants. The know you from the second day, and make sure that everything is as you desire. - Food at the restaurants was great, really great. - The hotel is ideally located to walk around Agadir. Conclusion: we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. As said, the hotel doesn't look like the other "beach clubs" from the outside, but there's a shiny pearl of quality-service inside this oyster...

No one has ever told me and no one has ever written that with half board every night I had to pay the water. And 'as if I have breakfast and coffee I have to pay' or milk, assurdo.LO you needed to say before.

We havejust returned from a 14 nights stay in the Al Madina. It is an excellent hotel with good facillities and very friendly and helpful staff.. The location is very good ,although listed as City Centre the back of the hotel opens out on to the main beach road and tourist throughfare. Food was excellent. "

We had 2 rooms and they were exactly what we wanted inrespect to price and location.AisRoom as always did a good job in making our reservations for all of our travel.It is very helpfull when we read other custemer's evaluations and coments which you provid. The only thing that I comment negativly about this hotel is that it is not wheel chair friendly... there are many stairs to climb.Other than that it is wonderfull in all areas.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 week & found it to be a lovely friendly very clean & safe hotel particularly for single women travellers. It is a hidden gem .I would think this is because no alcohol is available on the premises so holiday makers dismiss it. Less than 10 minutes & you are on the beach. Breakfast was always fresh & delicous & the lunch was as good as you would get ( & better in a lot of instances )in any of the beach restaurants. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
