Scotland's hilly capital is one of the most captivating cities in the UK, and one of the most popular with tourists. Every year millions of travellers book flights to Edinburgh to shop, sightsee and, of course, visit the world-famous arts festival and the Edinburgh Tattoo. The hub of the city for most of those arriving from Edinburgh flights is the Old Town: the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle perched atop its rock, and Princes Street. The New Town is something of a misnomer, as it dates to Georgian times; its long streets are filled with grand Georgian houses and it is the location of many galleries and shops.
