Indonesia's third-largest city, hillside Bandung today is a sprawling, chaotic industrial city. But that doesn't stop tourists in their thousands from booking flights to Bandung every year. Though the city itself may not be the most picturesque in Indonesia, it is the perfect location from which to explore the surrounding countryside. Bandung is set among a range of volcanoes, lush tea plantations and hot springs. Tourists arriving from Bandung flights spend the days sightseeing in the spectacular scenery and the nights eating some of the best cuisine to be found in Indonesia. The Tangkbuhan Prahu volcano is a popular destination. It's possible to hike up to the crater at the top. Nearby Lembang is a charming hillside resort town. From here many tourists hike through the Juanda Forest Park and visit the waterfalls and a charming tea house. Bandung's airport is small and set among the hills. It's possible to get cheap Bandung flights from Jakarta, though many travellers prefer to arrive by road. However, the view from the plane over the hills is unbeatable.
