All travellers booking flights to Agra are here for one reason: to visit the splendid Taj Mahal, the great relic of the Mughal Empire. The spectacular white palace was built by the fifth Mughal Emperor as a mausoleum for his deceased wife and is even more impressive in real life than in photographs. The Taj is one of three Unesco world heritage sites in town, along with the Agra Fort (or Red Fort) and the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri.
